I like Thrash metal more.

Neither. Folk Metal rules ALL. http://youtube.com/watch?v=iijKLHCQw5ohoola
In agreement
But for this thread's purposes, death metal
[QUOTE="OPRFWrestler112"]Thrash Metal and Power Metal are the two best genres of music IMO. I make a special exception for Nightwish though, because they're awesome like that :PCerussiteNightwish is power metal...
I view them more as symphonic-goth-power-metal :P At least when Tarja was around :|
I didn't know there was a difference.sonicare
Thrash Metal, Death Metal
the way i think of it, is Death Metal is like Thrash except with growled vocals, and more technicallity

yeah, with Annete they're Symphonic Rock at best
I love death metal so much more even though Kreator happen to be one of my favorite bands. Although they were part of one of the heaviest thrash scenes so it sorta makes sense:P
They're really similar, tehcnically, and even vocally sometimes (Sepultura, anyone?). In the end I'd have to say Death Metal, since Melodeath has TONS of virtuostic bands. Thrash is also only known for like 3 bands. Megadeth, Mettalica, and Kreator.kylekatarn10
You spelled Metallica wrong

:|Thrash isn't known for Kreator. You mean Slayer I'm guessing.

I forgot Slayer, but actually that isn't what I meant. I mean supposedly the "3 Big Thrash Pioneers" were Destruction, Sodom, and Kreator. Since I personally really dislike Sodom, and don't even own a Destruction CD, that leaves Kreator. About 50% of my school loves the band, but when I mention any other Thrash band (I think the one I mentioned was Anthrax), they're like "lol wut?". Anyways, that's what I meant.
Could anyone please tell me whats the difference?marcocat
Thrash: Clean vocals, with fast, complicated guitar and equally hard to play drum beats. Usually long songs(6-11 minutes!) Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Testament.
Death:Same musical style, but with more grunting and growling. I don't really listen to Death, so i can't name any bands.

I was not aware of this "3 Big Thrash Pioneers" label. Only that they were the big 3 of the teutonic thrash scene.
Thrash metal, Fun fact : death metal is the only metal subgenre I can't get into but I guess that's what happends when you attack a guitar with a cheese grater. :P Siofen
If you can't get into death metal I'm surprised you can get into black metal.
Death Metal, I just cant get that song the model by Kraftwerk out of my head, theyre awesome death metal.
I typically listen to Death metal more...favorite bands are Dying Fetus, Impaled, Dismember, Nile, etc.
I like a lot of Thrash though...favorite bands are Testament, The Absence, Thine Eyes Bleed, Desctruction, old Slayer, etc.

Why does that surpise you? Black Metal is (or atleast was for me) , a lot easier on the ears. Especially Symphonic Black...
