The new Foo Fighters album, "Wasting Light" was officially released today. What are your thoughts? I personally think it's quite good, not my favorite from them though.

What other albums of theirs does it sound like? Or is it a new sound?

Foo fighters have been somewhat consistent with the quality of their songs I own 3 other Foo albums, "Foo fighters" (self titled), "Color and the Shape" and "Echoes Silence Patience and Grace"

As for "Wasting Light" I've only heard "ROPE" and it's a decent song,

I think i'm going to pick this one up today!

I'm not very good with comparing a bands new album with their past works, but it sounds a lot harder than most of their past albums. Here's Rolling Stone's review if you're interested.

I only have an early torrent that is fairly bad quality. The songs sound sick, but I still need to go pick up the CD now that it's out to experience it in full quality.

It's a lot harder rock than they normally play. The Colour and the Shape is still one of my favorite albums but this comes close.

Rumored to be a new RHCP, Tool, and RATM albums that should all be out this year. Sick year for actual rock music.

Bought it and have yet to listen to it. Apparently more like the self titled debut. I mean White Limo was a good representation of that. Rope... A hard rocking Foos number. It's pretty cool how part of the master tape is placed in the art book.

Love it. It reminds me of The Colour and the Shape. Glad to see them return to their roots.

Burning Bridges started to play and I was like "Damn, this is great!". and then the rest of the songs played... Not that great after repeated listens. It is good, just not better than theirolder stuff. Burning bridges is by far the best song on the album.

By that logic if someone tells you to shut up when you speak, you will, in turn, tell the next person that speaks to shut up? For shame, sir. For shame. Learn from the ignorance of others. Don't reproduce it.

Amazing! Foo Fighters personify rock. I can't wait for their documentary on April 14th.

Boring, sounds exactly like their old albums. Never seen the appeal in them.

No it doesn't. If anything this album diverges deeply from their previous works. It's all hard riffs and punk rock anthems. No acoustics.

Never been a big Foo Fan, but I am listening to the album right now and so far I am enjoying far more than their last two.

Was completely unaware they had a new album coming out.

Only Foo album I am familiar with is The Colour and the Shape unfortunately. Dave is my freaking idol though. He is the drummer whose songs I have been learning the most of BY FAR, and in general I think he is the pinnacle of what I want to be like. Great musician who doesn't get his head up his ass. Seen interviews with him and he is so down to earth and very family oriented which is just awesome.

You people say this album is harder and has a punk influence? Must go get this then! Working on starting a punk and with a friend so maybe this album can give some inspiration!

what? just because people in OTHER threads do something, doesn't mean you have to do the same thing. we all know that rap appreciation threads in OT always have people bashing rap, but that doesn't make much sense does it? but people do it anyways, even when it is NOT what the thread is about. you are basically doing the same thing. why?

So what? No disscussion allowed? Either like the band or GTHO? Thats not what disscussion is about... you make a thread, you should expect some negativity... it doesn't bother me in the slightest that some person I don't really know doesn't like the music I post, and it certainly doesn't deserve a 4 word response...

Its part of the disscussion, thats all... I didn't go out of my way to insult anyone, I didn't call TC a loser or anything... I honestly was not sure if the Foo Fighters were even still together or if they were still popular, which is why I asked... thats it...
