Poll The short list....which of these 2015 movies was your favorite? (46 votes)

Ex Machina 13%
Jurassic World 4%
Mad Max : Fury Road 30%
The Martian 2%
Star Wars : The Force Awakens 28%
I haven't seen at least 3 of these movies 22%

I paired the top 4 OT answers of my last Poll with Star Wars, to create a poll that just so happens to be sci-fi / fantasy themed....apparently what OT likes.

Anyhow, vote on!

I'm still gonna vote for Ex Machina, the only 1 I haven't seen is Star Wars.

Good movies all, but I wanted to see how they stacked up here.

Have not seen Mad Max yet. All the others are great with the exception of Jurassic World... I thought it was good but not on the same level as the others.

Can't decide between Star Wars and Mad Max. I'll give it to Mad Max because of Tom Hardy. Kylo Ren was pretty cool too.

Mad Max. Haven't seen SW but not a huge SW fan so I doubt seeing it would change my mind.

Tough choices, if we are only including the ones listed.

Mad Max was just...awesome. So much fun, and excellent acting which was a nice surprise for such an action-heavy movie. I was warned by someone that "it is just a two-hour long car chase" and I was like "...and this is bad because?" lol.

The Martian did the book justice, and I loved the book. Overall though it was meh, not all that memorable. Not terrible, I highly recommend it to pretty much everyone.

Ex Machina was a nice surprise, I was not expecting to enjoy it so much. The ending was awesome!

Waiting til after Christmas to see Star Wars.

Jurassic World was OK, though admittedly I had very low expectations. I do love me some Chris Pratt, though, and he was perfect for that role.

Sooooooooooooo to answer the question, out of the movies listed, I will have to vote for Mad Max. The originals are some of my favorite action movies ever, and this most recent one was arguably the best of all of them. IMPERATOR!

What about Furious 7 and Mission impossible?

Mission Impossible was a pleasant surprise. I thought the series had run its course, but this was the best installment since the first movie (which is the best, imo; it is the most spy-ish, all the others are too much action, especially the Wu directed one).

I haven't seen any of those yet but it'll definitely be Star Wars: The Force Awakens when I go see it sometime within the next week. I have Jurassic World on blu-ray and look forward to watching that soon too. My current favourite movie so far this year though is The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

@magicalclick: They didn't make the cut....nor did Creed (which was also mentioned, good movie btw) in my last poll.

Besides I like the fact that these are all sci-fi / fantasy movies

I figured Inside Out was decidedly fantasy, but fair enough, it's a poll asking about the harder lined sci-fi / fantasy movies of this year.

In that case Ex Machina still wins to me, with Star Wars close behind. I honestly didn't like Mad Max all that much. I mean yea, I like it, it just wasn't the second coming word of mouth assured me it was.

Didn't watch The Martian, and Jurrasic World was just a decent popcorn flick, nothing more, nothing less.

Ah Tom Hardy, haha, yes he was good...you must have had Tom Brady on the mind.

On another note The Martian is being shut out, just like it started in my last poll before a sterling comeback.

I voted Star Wars... fresh on my mind. Though I probably felt more satisfaction and relief over Mad Max Fury Road turning out good, given I thought it could go either way. Frankly there was never any doubt for me that J.J. Abrams could have done wrong on this and though it wasn't perfect was still lots of fun and I look forward to the sequels.

Star Wars and Mad Max duking it out, The Martian still being shut out, maybe it's votes went over to the dark side, since I added Star Wars to this poll.

@Allicrombie:

I heard good things about "The Danish Girl", but I wonder whether the subject matter would appeal to a straight guy like me. Perhaps the movie transcends that. In any event I wouldn't feel it was a good fit here.

@Allicrombie:

Oh I do tolerate it....just not sure a movie about a transgender would be my kind of movie, but if it's good enough perhaps it would be fine. The hot girl from Ex Machina is in it as well which doesn't hurt.

As for a black person in SW, well, I'm currently watching The Wire which has a black to white ratio of at least 10:1 and has a good chance of topping Breaking Bad as my favorite TV show of all time. So I think I could tolerate a black dude in SW. Hell I did with Lando.

@Iszdope:

The Wire has captured me from the very first episode....I'm still only on Season 1 but it has been rock solid.

On another note, after 44 votes The Martian is being shut out, and 2 movies are duking it out for the title.
