I must say, I can not disagree. Everyone should read The Demon Haunted World and watch Cosmos.

The Demon Haunted World is one of my favorite books, period. I read it about once a year. I'm more comfortable picking my favorites than the greatest, so for me it's a tie between Orson Welles and Frank Zappa.

Who ever lived not mythological figures.

Oh no, not one of you people. Here, read this and get enligtened.

Here's an excerpt: "The scholarly mainstream not only rejects the myth thesisbut identifies serious methodological deficiencies in the approach. As such, professor of divinity James Dunn describes the mythical Jesus theory as a "thoroughly dead thesis"."

Yeah Cosmos is so inspiring, and all the things he said were just as truth then as they are now, and probably will always be appliable to any generation.

Also the way he explained things in such magical way shoving aside dogmatic views and pettyness.

He was definately a visionary, that truly saw the potential in humankind, but did not rush to condemn but rather embrace it and debate it in a civilized manner.

He could make anyone wanna be an astronomer without even trying to influenciate, i mean i remember on cosmos how he said when a kid asks why the grass is green then we should all sit down and take the time to talk about it and analyse it.

He celebrated the human spirit and its imagination as well as its curiosity... I cant think of anyone else that ever celebrated life, imagination, knowledge and mankind this way.

Cornelius Tacitus: He was a Roman historian who lived from 55 to 120 CE and wrote a book Annals, circa 112 CE. McDowell and Stewart accept his writings as a strong indicator of Jesus' existence in the early 1st century CE. However, the information could have been derived from Christian material circulating in the early 2nd century.

Suetonius: He was the author of The Lives of the Caesars circa 120 CE. He wrote to "Since the Jews constantly made disturbances at the instigation of Chrestus, [Emperor Claudius in 49 CE] expelled them from Rome." This passage is often used to support the historicity of Jesus, assuming that Jesus' title was misspelled. But Chrestus was in fact a common Greek name. It is likely that the reference is to a Jewish agitator in Rome by that name.

Other ancient Roman historians: There were about 40 historians who wrote during the first two centuries. With the exception of the above, none stated that Jesus existed in the 1st century.

that's because until then, Jesus was just a guy who was crucified, like other millions of criminals. at the time when Jesus was alive, Christianity didn't even exist. Moreover, the records did not survive, and a lot of Roman historians were interested in lives of their emperors not, some minor cult at the time. And there is a record of Jesus by a Jewish (not Christian) Historian Josephus, who lived right after Jesus died. How many modern scholars deny the existence of Jesus anyway? I'm sure they have done far better research than both of us.
