Right now, the only thing that comes to mind is Modest Mouse. That's likely because I'm listening to them right now.

Well, we all remember Glam Bands from the 80's... That's not so good. So I guess any popular band will be remembered.

I agree... But how are we going to tell our accordion player? I think he was banned... The Beautiful Woman....

We need a saw player. Saws=avant-garde=indie cred=college student's approval=massive indie success=selling out=massive mainstream success=god-like status=touring with Gene Simmons so we can tell him how much we hate him.Ā

Bands are remembered for different reasons, some for their popularity others because they break new ground and form a new sound and thus a new genre. Nick Drake was a folk musician of the 1970s who died young, during his lifetime hardly anyone knew him. But, now he is very well known (among the musically aware at least) because he was ahead of his time and transcended much of the other music happening around him.

As much as I love Nick Drake, he's not a "remembered" artist. Among internet music enthusiasts, yes. But I'm pretty sure only mainstream stuff will really be remembered that well. So, I'm gonna say: Coldplay, RHCP, Snow Patrol, Green Day (yuck), Black Eyed Peas, Linkin Park, Eminem, Beyonce and some others will definitely be remembered. Hopefully people won't forget about Radiohead, Modest Mouse and other semi-popular but not quite there bands.

RHCP (Made funk cool again, thank God!) Nine Inch Nails (The most popular industrial band of all time for sure) In Flames (Legendary death metal right here) Muse (Such an amazingly talented and unique band, they will be remembered for sure) Blink-182 (The epitomy of a pop band) Slipknot (Best nu-metal band around. Very rabid fanbase) Korn (Popularized nu-metal therefore they will be remembered) Incubus (A popular and very unique band. Their originality will keep them from being forgotten) Linkin Park (Made nu-metal popular all-over again when they came out) Mindless Self Indulgence (If they can keep making good music they will create a whole new genre of music) My Chemical Romance (I am thinking that if their next cd is as good as the Black Parade, opinions on them will change drastically) System of a Down (They were very popular and had a unique message) Disturbed (Very popular) Drowning Pool (Their amazing singer died after their first cd which was a great cd. That alone is enough to keep them remembered) Opeth (One of the most original bands in the past 2 decades. They are a revolutionary metal band) Rage Against the Machine (Popular band with a political message) Alice in Chains (Dirt is a legendary album) Soundgarden (Chris Cornell is one of the most talented singers around) Stone Temple Pilots (The epitomy of 90's rock) And one last entry that isn't a band: Eminem (One of the most amazing and popular rappers ever. He has left his mark on music and will definitely not be forgotten)

I say we ditch all contemporary instruments.

I elect to be a suitcase-pedal player, and the blowdrier, and the table. You see, with the modern convenience of foot pedals, I can play all three at the same time.Ā

Chile Peppers and thats probably it. Only reason i'm saying that is because they are extremely popular. There skill doesn't match the likes of Sabbath, Zeppelin or Queen, but sheer popularity is what they will be remembered for.
