People who are born blind, deaf and paralyzed cant feel ANYTHING. Should it be legal to put them to sleep, if parents decide to?

...Why would it be dead? It doesn't have to fend for itself or anything as a newborn. It can't hear, and can't see, and is paralyzed. It's not like it's going to starve to death because it can't heat its' own bottle or something. It's insides still presumably work fine, even if it can't move and can't see or hear. That doesn't make you dead.I'm pretty sure the baby would be dead if it was born that way.

And TC, you should probably learn what the definition of being a "vegetable" is, because you're completely wrong, and I kind of want to smack you for how absolutely and completely incorrect you are.
There's usually the person who can't let go and will be all like "No, he/she wants to live! I feel I can speak for them!"
Though, I think a good lot of people would rather be dead than a vegetable.
No, but we should put vegetarians to sleep.lonewolf604Lol
but we should put vegetarians to sleep.lonewolf604i do not know about the issue at hand but this gets my full backing.

Their organs would still function, so no they would not be dead.
As a parent would you want the rest of your life to be raising someone that might not be able to love you back? They don't do anything. Would you honestly love someone who just sits there forever doing nothing? The rest of the parent's life would be completely tending to the child, making sure they inject them with food every day, dressing them, washing them. Every day, and not just as babies. Even when they become teenagers you would have to do this for them. And would they even know what is going on?
To me it is a pointless life for the kid and a wasted life for the adult.
yes it should or those who suffer alot in the end and cant do anything else then lay in bed and begs for it but they cant get released cause the law dont allow it i really hope if i get in an accident who do that to me that they just pull out the plug to the machine that force me to be alive its something i feel even my modern country is really bad about:(metalkitten
Get a "living will". Make sure your wishes are explicitly put down in writing, legally notarized before something like that happens.

its a good idea, but im just not sure it would work in my country - for veggiestate yes, but i would not wanna be paralyzed, not able to talk or do anything but still be able to see - ive seen those people kept alive also i had this old gran who got brain bleedings after brainbleedings, would loose speach, had to relearn, partly paralyzed, eventually lost sight and hearing, all she could do in the end was to lay in bed and cry that she wanted to die....meaning all she could do was to speak... she was religious and she would wonder what terrible thing she done in life to have to spend years like that in the end i couldnt stand watching it - she was an amazing woman and to have to go through a long end of not being able to do ANYTHING and wanting to get help to die, not to mention feeling the god she belived in punished her, thats is not the way to go for any human being i was happy for her sake when she died to help her die is not allowed here we treat our animals better - if they're very sick and just suffer in the end we put them to sleep in a very humane way so they dont suffer - humans we let suffer against their willShould we put retarded people to sleep too, because their lives aren't worth living either? A lot of people would probably say the life of Amish people isn't worth living, should we put them to sleep too? Do homeless people lead lives not worth living? How about people on welfare?
They can still enjoy food and love. Wow, I can't believe that so many people voted yes.. Is this Nazi Germany now?superclockedactually veggiestate means braindead... they wont enjoy food or love
all those people u mention has a saying...why do u even bring those up here? they have nothing to do with this topic... *really confused*Should we put retarded people to sleep too, because their lives aren't worth living either? Not neccessarily "put to sleep" but make them into delicious little green squares that we can feed everybody with, world hunger solved.
They can still enjoy food and love. Wow, I can't believe that so many people voted yes.. Is this Nazi Germany now?superclockedIf you are paralyzed I don't think you can chew or eat. Wouldn't you need food injection?

And no they can't eat , they need some sort of tube to carry liquids that you would not likely call it food .

They can still think, eat, love.. The title is misleading, as it's different than what the TC asks... They can't love because they have no idea that anyone other than themselves exists. They can't feel other people, they can't hear them, they can't see them. They've got taste and smell, but those senses are so under-developed in humans so as to be nearly worthless. Thinking would also not really be something they'd do much of. They would have no environmental input beyond smell and taste and that isn't going to really be enough to allow a person to have thoughts more complicated than "I am hungry".
this sums up my feelings exactly. sure it would be cruel to do it especially to a new born but im not sure whats the point of life....and honestly animals in the wild kill their young that are born defective. so im not so sure why its that big a stretch if a human wants to do it especially a blind deaf and paralyzed person. There's usually the person who can't let go and will be all like "No, he/she wants to live!
