I really like both very much - you can't make me pick just one! Can't I have both? :3

I love cyberpunk in particular when it comes to sci-fi. And though fantasy can be a bit boring sometimes, it's capable of some pretty amazing imagery and such when done well.

I've generally always preferred fantasy, though, so I'll go with that.

Yeah cyberpunk is great. It's also one of the sub-genres that can pose a lot of deep questions that other genres might not be able to.

Fantasy doesn't have to be whimsical though. Just like science fiction doesn't have to be super serious.

Indeed. There's no limit to what you can do in either.

Not always. Sci-fi to an extent can be physically possible. Blade Runner, for instance, could theoretically be possible. Skyrim couldn't.

There is a difference between the general term "fantasy" and the literary/fiction genre. Fantasy usually involves the past, or "older than modern" technology. Sci-fi usually involves the future or "newer than modern" technology.

They're both speculative fiction, but they're not both fantasy.

Sci-fi, though I like both and they're too broad to like all of the genres in them.

I just love slaying dragons and demons, carrying huge swords, shining armors and practicing all sorts of cool magic (with pretty effects). However the whole fantasy genre gets knocked out by Mass Effect. Those games honestly brought a tear to my eyes multiple times. So, as much fun as it is being Dragonborn, I'm commander Shepard and Sci-Fi is my favorite genre on the Citadel. Note: I do love other Sci-Fi creations: various movies and other games but without ME, I'd tend towards Fantasy.

.. I would have to say both.. Warhammer 40k, my favorite fiction setting, really has huge similarities to both genres of fiction..
