That, and several other things were said that were filled with expletives.
It's possible he just said that as a joke but it wouldn't surprise me if he was serious.

You have to wonder how many African-Americans in our country truly voted for Obama because of his race.
I know that looks and relatability are essential for a president, but when you think about it...
...Having the leader of our country chosen based only on his good lucks and his race is quite scary.
I honestly think that's the only reason Barack won.
Fightingfan
Right.
It can't be the fact that people were fed up with Bush and the Republicans at that point, it can't be that he really appealed to the youth in general because he's charismatic, it can't be because some people actually agreed with his policies.
It had to be only because he was black.
I think Chris Rock said it best:
"We're not just voting for him 'cause he's black, we're voting for him 'cause he's black and qualified. That's why we're voting for the motherfucker. Yeah. That's why we behind him. It's not like we're voting for Flavor Flav."

Hmm yeah your right...Being the first black president had nothing to do with it.[QUOTE="JML897"][QUOTE="Fightingfan"]

Hmm yeah your right...Being the first black president had nothing to do with it.If that was the case then any black person would of made it that far. No one is denying that his ethnicity gave him the edge but you'd have to be a complete fucking idiot if you think that's the only thing going for him.
I'm sure there's more to it than just that. I suspect a lot of people voted for Obama because he was black and probably a lot didnt vote for him because he was black. But I can see how if you were black, you'd be voting for more than just skin color. You'd be voting to put someone of color in a prominent position. Even if you didnt agree with some of his policies, having a black president may open some more doors for black people.

Being black gave Barack Obama the edge in defeating Hilary Clinton in the primary.
Whats Your point?

I just thought it was funny and I read the article with Samuel's typical loud, profanity-filled voice in my head.
.To be fair, there were probably also quite a few people who didn't vote for him because he was black.
Blacks are racists? No surprise there. That, and several other things were said that were filled with expletives.

Not surprised at all. But you have to remember, there were probably just as many who didn't vote for him as well purely because he's black. So it doesn't matter much. Superficial people voting for superficial reasons...
Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Oprah, Will Smith, Morgren Freeman should all be running for president
Blue-Sky
Jesse Jackson actually did run for president as a Democrat in 1984 and 1988. He didn't make it to the primaries either time and both elections a Republican eventually won.
Personally, while I know it wasn't the only reason why he got elected I know it may have helped. When Hillary was running against Obama for the nomination most of my family members were saying they would rather be responsible for putting the first black man in office than putting the first woman in office.
It also didn't hurt people were still pissed over Bush and they felt McCain would be no different if he was elected. Although it was kind of screwed up how people were actually making fun of McCain's time as a POW during the Vietnam War just because he was Obama's opponent.
Exactly. It's not like the dude is Will the crackdealer from off the goddamn corner. And yes there's an element to him being black, we've never had a black president before and here comes an intelligent charismatic black man in the running who's just as good as anyone in the race. Why wouldn't he want to vote for him?I think Chris Rock said it best:
"We're not just voting for him 'cause he's black, we're voting for him 'cause he's black and qualified. That's why we're voting for the motherf*cker. Yeah. That's why we behind him. It's not like we're voting for Flavor Flav."
Blue-Sky
It's extremely hilarious at how butthurt people are about this. I don't agree with everything he's done, but he isn't any worse than the people who's already had the seat and in some cases he's been better. Get the f*ck over it.
[QUOTE="Fightingfan"]Agreed. sorry but you guys are idiots, Barack isn't the first black guy to run for president, al sharpton ran 8 years ago and their were even others before him. So if being black means you become president then we would have had a black president a long time ago.I honestly think that's the only reason Barack won.
yahtzo900
The same goes for Al Sharpton and Carol Braun in their 2004 Presidential Bid.Yes, he was clearly only voted in because of his race. That's why Jesse Jackson has done so well in his presidental bids right?

That's what kills me. Nobody was complaining when "being black" was a detriment.
I think Chris Rock said it best:
"We're not just voting for him 'cause he's black, we're voting for him 'cause he's black and qualified. That's why we're voting for the **** Yeah. That's why we behind him. It's not like we're voting for Flavor Flav."

Ahhh... Chris Rock. Who are we to question such a great mind as his?
The man is an intellectual god.
Where would modern intellectualism would be without him?

This is close enough to what I was going to say.
it's actually because the other guy was white  that's why i voted for obama:roll: well the guy before him was a retard and McCain was the same but older which meant he would be even less inclined to move toward progress. Obama is the best thing that has happened to this country. YES WE CAN!!Yea practically every black person voted for Obama because he was black. I think Obama got like 97% of the black vote.
