self explanatory, for me

tokyo magnitude 8.0: dear god could they ever rub that in so much, seriously they just kick at you while down, this show was already heartbreaking but the ending justadds insult to injury, after clannad i never thought another show would make me actualy cry but this shows prooved me dead wrong,

ladder 49: this is also another tragic ending, it may be becouse i actualy know and are good freinds with a volounteer fireman but this ending just had me depressed and slightly scared for my freind

FFX: everyone knows what happens in this games end do i even need to go into the details

what are some of yours?

My friends laughed at me when I told them about a sad ending of a book :(

Therefore I'm going to keep my sad endings to myself.

I don't watch many movies/anime/ TV shows with sad endings. For games I could say
RDR and recently LA Noire
Schindler's List.

*spoiler*

When the real people that Oscar Schindler saved walked by his grave at the end of the movie, it was heart wrenching.

It's gotta be Death Note. I was freaking out. But at the same time I felt an incredible, pleasent sensation whilst watching it.

Six Feet Under was the only time I can remember being genuinely sad. Maybe at the end of The Wire, but only because I loved the show so much.

The Sopranos. Man that was a sad ending. :(

CHOASXIII

The ending of the fifth season was a punch to the gut, for sure. A few others I could mention:

Films: Grave of the Fireflies and The Elephant Man come to mind.

Books: Peter Watts' novel Blindsight has the most devastatingly bleak ending I've ever read. Watts in general makes for pretty grim reading.

I was very surprised by that movie. I just expected a typical PG Disney-esque type movie.

In the end killer gets away and kills special agent's family/father in law/ sister in law... on top of wife already having been axed( who was pregnant)
Can't believe I am gonna be the first to mention it, but my God Metal Gear Solid 3 had such an incredible and sad ending. That final cutscene is probably my all-time fav cutscene in gaming.

I can't think of any, I know ones that made me feel sad when I was little but for so many years now, going back further then I can remember I find sad endings hit a counterpoint with me, as in I know it's trying hard to make me sad and so I don't go with it anymore, lose some interest and it all seems a bit silly. I like sad endings that are not trying too hard to rub it into your face, ones that can be more suptle with it, ones like the ending to "Carriers" which was kind of sad all the way through, but it didn't need to dwell on the sad parts, the movie and the characters moved on, turning there backs on the situation and it left you feeling damaged.

I suppose The Road was quite effective, but I found the book version to be more so then the movie. The book obviously being longer and more detailed gave you more time to see just how much the dad cared for his son, so it made the ending more effective.

As I said a lot of sad endings don't work on me, not trying to sound tough but it's the truth.

The ending to Grave of the Fireflies is very depressing, yet heart-warming. Hayao Miyazaki never disappoints.

I dont know about saddest cause I tend to stay away from things that end in tragedy, but I remember the ending to Cowboy Bebop being sad and rage enducing.

not the actual ending but watching this will bring you to tears now n again watching it.. i sitll get choked

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXnrb0nrSj0

and the audio score.. the guy who thought to use that one there needs to be given an award of some kind.. it doesnt get done that well all that often in anime anymore, i never wanted a bad guy to shrug off a wound more badly than the first time i saw that happen..

It is like what a pixar movie is to nick cartoons I guess. Well, that is like godhood compared to mortality but, that is the drift. Grave of the fireflies was one of those stories that was animated in order to portray it properly. It is a solid experience. Plus, it is quite "old" so bare past if the animation isnt top notch compared to today.
