I cant believe this. Why would someone damage such a piece of art?

I always wanted to take a famous painting like the Mona Lisa and burn it in front of a large group of art aficionados. I figure if one day I want to die, this would be a cool way to do it. Not only would I have the satisfaction of pissing off so many people but I just might get beaten to death as well.
Yeah, I remember when I went to the Louvre; it's behind this fairly cloudy bullet proof glass; far from the most interesting thing I saw there. And the woman should have attacked something at the Pompidou Center; she probably wouldn't have even gotten arrested.it was in bullet proof glass:lol:

Wow. That person is definitely in need of some psychiatric help.
I hope they find some medication that will help her live a normal life.
I have a vision of this woman like the crazy cat lady from the Simpson's but throwing tea cups ever were instead.
Not really a big deal, I've seen someone make that in MSpaint. But then again, i don't really care for art.

Try it with a paintbrush. Thats a whole different game.
Great way to put it..."unhinged".
Would love to see the video of that from the security camera! :)
If one of my paintings were hanging in a museum and some nincompoop tried damage it in some way, I would haunt him/her from the grave.
I would love to burn it down if i have the chance. I always thought it was an ugly piece of crap.Zerocrossings
The only reason it's famous because it's been stolen twice.
Da Vinci might have spent nine years drawing that, but nine years to other people now specially writers isn't a long time to come up with something creative.
reminds me of when a guy smashed a toe off the statue of David with a hammer.
.....art critics
Wow. :| What a dumbass. The real painting is right here.

Yeah, why didn't she attack something cool like that?..
Its a classic painting. 500 years old and still in mint condition.Frenzyd109You mean aside from the acid thrown on it at one time and a boot or somethign thrown at it and busted it in the same year right?

well its famous because its a flawless painting. also the time it took doesnt matter. directly opposite to the mono lisa is a huge painting that took the artist 44 years to paint. the artist who did that must be pretty pissed off that his life's work is being over shadowed by a A4 sized portrait of a grumpy woman.[QUOTE="Zerocrossings"]I would love to burn it down if i have the chance. Yeah, it wasn't at all well known for the 400 years it was around before it was stolen the first time, just some painting in some guy's attic. But when you steal something that nobody's heard, it immediatly becomes the most famous painting in the world. I love the weird leaps of logic in this thread. Some people are saying "why would you do that?", then you've got these other people going "I don't liek that painting anyway, so I would like to burn it". I mean, wow, where did the all the intervening thoughts go? It's just this huge leap from dislike, to irrational destructive desires. "I don't like person's car, but everyone else does, I should push it off a cliff". "I don't like that guy, even though he's very popular and well known, I ought to muder him". "I don't like this brand of beer, I should burn down the company's factories and wipe it from the world". What's the matter with these people? You don't like this famous painting, so...don't go to see it?Please Log In to post.
