Atheism doesn't inherently offend most people. However, like all belief systems, it has its members whom do take measures to offend people.

as long as i have my right to believe in whatever the hell i want to believe in, i could care less what other people believe in.

I was with him all the way up until the point when he said "I view all religions equally, unlike religious people." Just kinda lost me at that point, generalizations like that just toss my interest away from that point on.

I'm not sure if atheism offends so much as the specific all-religion-is-a-scam-and-we're-smarter-because-we're-not-religious brand.

...Which, unfortunately, does tend to be the sort that gets the most exposure, similar to the way in which the if-you-don't-agree-with-everything-I-say-then-my-god-will-roast-you-forever-in-hell brand of religion also tends to get the most exposure.

I guess I just don't understand how someone can take an opinion (especially religion, where no one knows if they're right), and actually get offended by it. I mean, why get angry over someone else's views? However, I do understand anger if the person who has those views is intentionally being a douche about it.LZ71

Atheism can't offend anyone, however an atheist can and it so happens that the most vocal are also the most offensive.

There's not really any reason to get offended by obnoxious athiesm either. Just ignore them.

Nothing offends me. What other people believe is their business not mine. So I don't care either way. The truth is none of us will ever know weather there is a god or not. Just die and see what happens I guess. Believing in something and it not surely being there seems pointless to me. And going to church seems like a waste of time I could be playing video games, or watching sports.

I can agree with him, Being an athiest isn't in and of itself a bad thing. I don't find it offensive at all. If that is what he wants to believe then good for him. I will keep my faith and keep on going also. What would annoy people is when you try to force your veiws on others. It doesn't matter if you are very religious or not because it is just annoying and stupid.

You gotta love Ricky he says stuff people only dare to think and he really puts it to the fat people.

As for his stance on Athiesm i really love how he expresses himself about it because through my entire life religious people have bashed my non-faith so i dont care if one athiest basges theirs.

I'm not offended by atheism in itself. I just think that there is just as much reason to believe in God than there is evidence to the contrary. After all, would you like to live with someone who shoves his or her beliefs down people's throats obnoxiously? Atheism in itself doesn't offend people, obnoxious atheists, just like everyone else like them, do offend people.hiphops_savior

It doesn't really offend me. I actually found his comment at the end of the Golden Globes hilarious.

The actual ideology...no. But some individuals do promote atheism in an offensive way..... And Ricky Gervais is not what I consider a philosopher of our time.

atheism doesnt offend but some atheists piss me off with their arrogant attitude. They think they're the only ones with working brain.

I'm very religious. I go to Church every Sunday for at least 3 hours and sometimes during the week as well for an hour or two. I'm not sure why Atheism should offend me or anyone else.

:| Yes it does.. When your born into that environment those beliefs are drilled into the kid at a very young age.. If anything its the closest thing to being a Christian because a kid does not doubt the way adults do.

The Atheists can sometimes offend but Atheism itself shouldn't.
