He sent some pictures over the internet, sure it's a little weird but why is it even newsworthy? Seems like it belongs in the tabloids and nothing more.

personally i could care less, as i understand humans have the ability to separate their personal and professional life.... and its not like he ran on family values or anything... but hes basically screwed, i think we all knew it from the beginning when he wouldnt deny it was his sausage.... which is kinda admirable that he wouldnt lie. Sad that not lying is considered good for a politician.

I suppose it's newsworthy in the sense that something humorously embarassing happened to a famous person, but no actual physical transgression or anything occured. It's rediculous that this would decide his political future in any way.

Lying about it was fairly stupid but it seems forgivable given that the motivation was preventing embarrassment rather than concealing a criminal scandal or anything.

And Anthony Weiner was the one of the closest political representation of a yong adult male in his 20's. I hope he doesn't resign after this, but you know how American people are, they believe our elected officials have to be this fake shining example of moral character. It's not about how you do your job, it's about how you look on TV.

If he'd taken that stance from the beginning I don't think this would be nearly as big a deal, but instead he decided to break out that increasingly ludicrous "I was hacked" story. If you don't want to be considered guilty of something that would otherwise be irrelevant (A politician sorta-kinda cheating on their spouse? Stop the presses!), don't go out of your way to make yourself look so goddamn guilty.

It's about being realistic

No human being on the planet has the matches the standards we "want" from a politician. So we "force" politicians to put on this facade of moral behavior that we all know deep down is fake. So when stuff like this happens, we demonize them for what otherwise would be normal human behavior.

Weiner didn't do anything illegal as well. So I don't know why you guys are raging.DroidPhysX

well, i worry about him being blackmailed. If his wife doesn't care, not so bad. But if he does this to a psycho or basically a woman with evil intentions, she could hold this over his head and it could effect his judgement.

And it may not even be the woman he is with doing the blackmailing. Could be any opposition discovering such a thing.

Short of this being an obvious fraud from the get-go, the moral-types would be coming after him either way. If he had told the truth right at the start, at least he'd be able to salvage some points for being someone who is more interested in the issues and being a good politician than caving to America's puritanical tendencies. Instead, he has the moral types calling for his head and he comes across as just another greasy politician, which I'd argue is far more damaging to his reputation.
