Jesus-@#$%... When someone did that "OT census" thread, I saw someone wrote "jedi" under religion - I thought it was a joke.... Now it's kinda sad... The movies weren't even that good. And yes, I am talking about the original trilogy. The prequels would've been MUCH better if it wasn't for that Jub-Jub guy and Heiden Christensen.

A friend of mine got "Jedi" put on his dog tags as his religion. That was a joke. However, I have heard of an actual religion based on the Jedi in Star Wars. I read an article on MSN a long time ago of how some guy got drunk, put on a Darth Vader mask, and disrupted one of their services.

No less farfetched then any other religion out there..

It's a common misconception that Jedi worship Yoda and think star wars was real and what have you. From my understanding, they are essentially Taoists. And they take the idea of the Jedi, being protectors of the galaxy (or in this case, their neighborhoods, cities, etc) seriously.

They don't believe they have force powers, worship a Yoda statue, or believe Vader died for their sins, to my knowledge. They are fairly ordinary outside of using Star Wars as a theme.

Secondly learn to Australian/New Zealand humour. Of course it's a joke. People put it down because it's funny. I remember reading a whole thing about it saying the census people were not happy because it didn't give accurate info. about the population. While they report that people put down Jedi it doesn't say what their actual religious beliefs are.
