Was wondering if these are considered good anime, because I am really enjoying them.

I finished season one of One Punch Man (are there any more? Netflix only has Season 1) and I thought it was great; over the top....EVERYTHING! Some of the heroes are just hilarious, the enemies are great, I love the action, and the apathy is just funny at times. It still manages to be entertaining even though you know exactly how it is going to end up.

Kill La Kill I just started, so I am not sure how I feel about it, but I kind of enjoy the humor. It is very self-deprecating, it definitely is aware of how anime can be perceived and I think it sort of pokes fun at the "sexy schoolgirl" thing and then some. I like the humor and the art style is different from what I have seen in most anime.

I don't watch a lot of anime, mostly just the staples (Studio Ghibli, Ghost in the Shell, Attack on Titan, etc) but I do enjoy it from time to time. Just wondering if these are well-respected shows or not.

I really enjoyed Kill La Kill. Anything Trigger releases is usually good quality stuff.

Kill La Kill definitely is. I know a lot of people like One Punch but I'm not sure if it's held in the same regards as Kill La Kill. I liked One Punch but it does not come off as a traditional anime to me. It just feels like something different. Maybe too different? I dunno haha, but I'd say both are worth watching at the end of the day....

One Punch Man is awesome. It's like a parody of superhero comics/movies and shounen manga/anime at the same time, and pulls it off really well.

Kill La Kill sucks. While I've only seen a few episodes, I just couldn't stand watching anymore. Very disappointing from the creator of Gurren Lagann, one of the best anime.

You've got it the wrong way around...

One Punch Man - 8.8/10 (MyAnimeList), 9.1/10 (IMDb)

Kill La Kill - 8.2/10 (MyAnimeList), 8.0/10 (IMDb)

I haven't watched Kill La Kill, is it worth watching? I love One Punch Man, the struggles he get when he became unknowingly strong.

One Punch Man is friggin' amazing. I can't believe it started off as a web comic drawn in what appears to be MS Paint. My brother doesn't like anime but I made him watch One Punch Man and he loved it despite it being gory af (he's squeamish about blood and gore).

I know that Saitama is meant to be a parody of Shounen anime/manga characters, but he's a well rounded (pardon the pun) and well meaning character. The baldie is my favourite Cheating Bastard.

As for Kill la Kill, the only reason I know about it is because of Hiroyuki Sawano's song called, "Till I Die". It's a really good song but its cover version is even better. The guy who did the cover, Mica Caldito, even ended up doing the vocals for actual Hiroyuki Sawano songs.

I usually end up watching a series, or playing a game because of the music but this is one anime I do not want to watch. Its got a sickening amount of fan service which is definitely not my cup of tea. Most anime have a little fan service and I don't think that trend will change but it's too much in KLK.

As for which is more respected - no contest here, it's One Punch Man.

I've watched a few more episodes of Kill La Kill; I still like it, but it's getting almost a little too silly, you know?

One Punch man is an awesome deconstruction of anime tropes. The more you know about the "super hero" genre of anime, the funnier it is.

Kill La Kill is also the same thing but leaning more towards the "fan service" heavy high school girl-type anime, but it also ends up being one of those "is making fun of but at the same time ends up being an example of" type parodies.

starting to realize that (I'm on episode six or seven now), and it is lessening my enjoyment. It's like when someone is writing a clever satire and it sort of get's away from then and turns to slapstick.

With that said, the show did spawn some really, really, really amazing cosplay...

OPM is more or less a clever written parody of common anime tropes/cliches(ex. DBZ)

KLK is also a parody of shorts but focuses far too much on fan service and is nowhere near as clever as it thinks.

I prefer Kill La Kill for it's ecchi parody and I like the characters more so but my favorite has always and will be Satsuki.

@indzman: You should definitely watch One Punch Man. Like I said before in my earlier post, my brother does not like anime and even he ended up loving OPM. There are only 12 episodes and each episode is like 20 minutes (17-18 without the intro and credits). It's funny as hell and can get quite serious when you least expect it to. The main character might seem like this boring, emotionally stunted, over-powered dude but he's the real heart and soul of the series. His theme song best fits his actual mental state.

Thanks a lot for the recommendation man. I'll definately try to watch One Punch Man now. I watched few animes in my lifetime but they were video games related as Devil May Cry,Final Fantasy and Resident Evil ones. I'm personally more of a cartoon fan ( Disney, Tom & Jerry ETC ) lol.

@indzman: One Punch Man has a humorous, cartoon-like vibe...there are always shenanigans, hi-jinx, or some sort of silly thing going on. You might find yourself enjoying it if you enjoy the more classic western animation.

-I mean, there's a hero who only attacks good looking guys and somehow always ends up naked.
-Saitama (the main guy) takes on an apprentice, and this apprentice is super serious and explaining his life's mission for like ten minutes and Saitama is just dying because he want's this guy to shut up and summarize it in 20 words or less.
-There's another hero who just rides around on a bike and always get's his ass beat; like, every time. It's stupid I mean all he does is ride a bike. And he's a hero!
-At one point he goes to fight this crazy powerful enemy and this enemy is like "RAWR I WILL DESTROY YOU!" for five minutes and there's all this hype and you think a big battle is coming and then the enemy sneaks behind Saitama and Saitama just kind of casually glances over his shoulder and is like "Oh, see you!" and the bad guy freaks the hell out and hides in the corner.

It's silly, good fun that pokes fun at itself and anime (in good spirit).

With that said, it can get pretty heavy at times, which is nice too. The bike riding hero is a total underdog and inspirational, everyone roots for him and he is a great example of never giving up. The naked hero guy learns from his mistakes and modifies his attacks later on.

Kill la Kill is too perverted. The school teacher, and then that girl is way too young for that outfit. Then again, I think age of consent is younger in Japan. That crap shouldn't fly state side.

FLCL means Fooly Cooly. Fooly Cool is an old Anime from the early 00 and only has 6 episodes. It's okay but the damn Anime is way short and never gotten a follow up.

To that regard, I see FLCL as the precursor Space Dandy.

As a Kill La Kill fan, I won't denied it's indeed fan service for it's over the top ecchi (and saw deleted scenes which involves little hentai) but I liked the contrast of having a vivid show, but it being a dark show. I wish there were more shows in the same vein as KLK has going for. I was really disappointed in Satsuki for not being a truly evil character as I hope she would be and turns out they were going for Vegeta on her so that's my issue and yeah, I can agree that Satsuki's mother went over the top as well but that was part of, fan service.
