The real question should be are there any newer model of cars that you think actually look better than the old models.
Just about every car looks better now than they did in the 70's and 80's, with those ugly-ass trapezoids.
That's because new cars, even ones that are supposed to be good looking, look like areogay streamliners. Ugly cars from back then were uglier, but seldom are the good looking cars as good as they used to be.
Mustang. First gen easily trumps the fourth and fifth. Second and third don't even belong in the discussion, ew.Dark__LinkThe FoxBody gen is amazing.
I like the hatchback designs, the ones that tried to be Ferraris like the old Mazdas.Just about every car looks better now than they did in the 70's and 80's, with those ugly-ass trapezoids.

I have no idea how anyone could think that. The current M looks so much better than that ugly thing. I don't know too many people who think those look good at all.
Have to disagree with the people hating on the current-gen Mustang. This is the best-looking generation since the mid to late 60's fastbacks, and the best-driving Mustang ever. Foxbodies were ass-ugly. Their only saving grace was being small and light and having a strong engine for their era (302 versions).
I think that the 350z was a better-looking ride than the 370z, especially the 07-08 350z with revised front end and hood. Z32 300zx and certain color/trim packages of the Z31 (84-89) were great too. Of course you really can't beat the original 240z. Still sexy as hell after all these years.
04 to 08 Acura TL was much better-looking that the current model
1st and 2nd Gen Camaro were much better-looking than the current 5th gen
E39 BMW 5-series (97-03) and E36 (I believe) BMW 3-series (99 to 05) both looked better than their current versions. The E92 M3 was a hot-looking car, but the E46 will always be better to me.
Mitsubishi EVO VII through IX looked better than Evo X. Miles better.
04-05 Subaru WRX and STI were much nicer-looking than the current model. The 06-07 wasn't bad, either.
This list could go on and on. I don't like the general direction that car body design has taken in the last few years. There are exceptions, but the trend is not good.
The Ford Explorer:
2006-10
2011-13
And the Ford Escape
2008-12
2013
They went from nice, truck-like SUVs to hideous bubbly crossovers.

I completely agree on both counts. I don't know what they were thinking.

They're using a word wide platform, and box cars don't sell anywhere outside of America, so they're using the Euro platform, or what was the euro platform.[QUOTE="hartsickdiscipl"][QUOTE="WiiRocks66"]

They're using a word wide platform, and box cars don't sell anywhere outside of America, so they're using the Euro platform, or what was the euro platform.Yeah, but each region is different, I don't know why they can't realize this. When the Explorer was redesigned in 2011, sales for the still-SUV Escape skyrocketed. And worst of all, they got rid of the Crown Vic, perhaps my favorite car ever. It's just sad how ugly all new cars are getting, because I quite frankly wouldn't want any of them.

It's to lower production costs and they're catering towards the y generation. Generation y likes sleek-fuel efficient cars. They can't make everyone happy, but they're trying to make as much people as they can happy with little bit of money.*Yeah no more Vics, they offer the Taurus SHO now for cops in my area.

And Ford no longer has a small/midsize truck either. They stopped making the Ranger too.

Yeah. And I do like the new Taurus and Fusion. They look nice.
The police force near me started replacing their Vics with the new Taurus, and all the cops were complaining that they didn't have enough space, so they ended up keeping most of their Vics. A good family friend is a cop, that's how I know.

why aren't they driving chargersNo idea. They like Ford I guess? Although neither the Charger nor the new Taurus are as big as the Vic, which is one of their biggest concerns.

why aren't they driving chargers I've heard from cops that they dont like the chargers because the visibility is worse than the old Vics. We'll have to see how the Chevy Caprice will work out.^The visibility on that platform is horrible. You can't see street lights when driving an older generation charger/300c without being super far away; basically you can't see above you at close distances.
