Okay girl related but not actually girl trouble (yeah, i'm shocked too!)

Right well, i asked this girl out the other day, really nice we get on well blah blah blah i'm sure your not interested, anyway, she's a couple years younger than me (i'm 16, she's 14, but we're fine with that) anyway, she hasn't told her parents about me yet, nor have i mine about her but it's kinda awkward getting to see each otehr when we have to lie to our parents.

Anyway my dilema is HOW i should tell my parents about her, i mean, yes i am 16, and yes this is my first girlfriend and i know they'll be pleased about it and inviteher over and stuff but i just can't work up the courage to mention it, really embarrased and i dunno why but i can't get rid of it! So i need any help/opinions/suggestions on how i can overcome this or good ways of telling them about her, mainly just sayign i have a girlfriend...

Whoa, at first I thought you said she was 16, while you were 14. Anyways, I don't see why you're scared to tell them, it's just 2 years.

its really not that big of a deal, but just tell them when you are leaving one night that you are off to go hang out with whatever her name is, that'll break the ice and you'll fill them in more when you come home later

be casual about it. as you walk out the door, if they ask "where are you going?" you can just say something like "I'm gonna go hang out with a girl I met."blooddemon666

I know I'm going to sound like an ass, and I know it's only two years diff but....Dating an underage girl is not a good idea, especially if you have 'intentions'

It's nothin to do with teh age difference, just working up the courage to tell them that i havea girlfriend, never done it before and kinda shy/embrrased/scared whatever lol.GenTom

Sure i have intentions but only if she wanted to, she's a great person to be with and is the main reason i'm going out with her, i won't 'do' anything with her unless she wants to and we both feel comfortable which in my opinion is all there is to it. However, not sure i wanna post a pic as not sure she'd like bein seen by a group of strangers heh, tho to me your family of course!

Just how i start the conversation with my dad/mum about it is the tricky bit :( dad.....er....

I was the same age when I had my first girlfriend. Coincidentally, she was also the same age as yours.

Anyways, why just tell them out of the blue? I would not bother straight out telling them. Just go about your business like you would if it was one of your normal friends. If you are going to hang out with her and they and they want to know where your going and with who, tell them. If they ask "Who is this girl?" Tell them your girlfriend. Then they will likely want to know more, so fill them in on who she is and what she's like. I feel that has a fairly natural flow to it.

I don't really think you need to go out and tell your parents. But don't hide or deny anything.

I don't think two years at that age is an issue at all. Three years yes, but not two.

Maybe it's because I'm from a small town and hung out with people of varying ages as a result. Out of my core group of friends, only one guy was the same age as me. Then there was a guy a year younger, a guy two years younger, and a couple guys three years younger. There wasn't anyone older that shared our interests for some reason.

So anyways, two years is cool in my opinion.

At least be happy that you can tell your parents or have a gilfriend at 16, I can't. And I'm turning 17 next week.
