Sure the kiddies aren't preforming that well, but that would be rather extreme. Obama would have his throat slit in his sleep. By his own children.

Well, that's certainly a sure sign that kids can't vote. :P

I don't really know anything about the effect it'd have or the school years in other countries, so I don't really know nearly enough to be able to comment on it.

Thank God. Summer vacation is nothing but misery. And God knows the little brats need more time in school.

There are a lot of kids who sit around and don't do anything in school. There are a lot of kids who skip classes, don't do their homework, and waste time. There are even a lot of kids who show up but don't get anything out of their classes. Adding more school days won't necessarily have a positive impact on everyone, or even most students. Just because you're attending more days doesn't mean you'll be learning more or gaining anything.

The kids who want to be good students will be good students, and the kids who want to be bad students will be bad students.
Adding more time and more school days won't do anything but piss people off.

If he wants to help education then there are better ways. Let kids be kids. Besides I like not having to make the trip to school with J.

Agreed. Making summer vacation might help things, or they might not do anything at all. Then again, I can see a lot of people who still go to school automatically against this without really thinking too much about it.

Screw that decision.

3 more hours??

I get out at 3:30.

SO 6:30 PM I WOULD LEAVE SCHOOL?

theres no way thats gonna work out.

Its not about quantity. Its quality.

If we had a better education system, we wouldnt need this. Just improve education, dammit, even though Im a senior, dont make it so that we have to spend 3 more hours in school everyday with our stupid teachers, who would hate it just as much, because they would be paid any more, and they would have to work 3 hours longer.

That just doesnt work out, man. Dropping out would be much more common, its not like the kids will be like "OH WOW 3 MORE HOURS A DAY! NOWS I CAN LEARNS EVERYTHING!!!"

Well, the same thing is supposedly being tested already up here in Canada, eh. Guess the yank are finally catching up :P Seriously though, the system, if it would be altered, should be altered in teaching techniques and content, not on the time kids spend at school.

Yeah, sadly it's true. The people who want to be good students/want to learn more will do so, and the people who want to be bad students/don't want to learn will not. I don't think that adding time or school days will do anything except make people angry.

Yeah back when I was in school the summers already got shortened once. They used to be 3 months and by the time I graduated they had been only 2.25-2.5 months for a couple of years.

I think I heard of this I know next year at my school instead of going to school from Sept 1-jun16 it will be sometime in August-the third week of may. it would suck for an underclassmen but being a senior I can't wait for the year to start and then end.

The difference is people just stopped liking the war and thus Bush. With Bama, people are are getting sick of everything he's about and proposing. I get he's trying to be new-age or whatever but a lot of the crap he's coming up with to try and get passed verge on ludicrous. His total and complete lack of qualification and experience is showing more and more.

The problem is our teachers don't teach anymore. Not the amount of time spent in the classroom. :|
