Grasslands in Iceland? I've googled some pics of it and it looks very peaceful so yeah wanna visit that or do something memorable there like proposing or something.
When I was a kid, I always wanted to visit Iceland as a getaway vacation, but since I grew up, I forgot about Iceland until I saw your post.
Now that i have a nice career, I guess that's now a possibility.

A personal favorite is Alexandria Bay at the Lake Ontario side of New York and San Diego. Yup. I like boats and other water craft.
Some parts of New York City are okay. But, I've seen one too many alleys that smelled like pee.
Antalya, Turkey is also a personal favorite. I never saw so many Germans crowded into one place overseas.
For those who wants urban metros, Japan is always good for a visit.
California is always nice. I like the Central Coast and Northern California; not much in Southern California, imo, especially LA...ugh
San Luis Obispo: there are a bunch of places you can stay in the area--Paso Robles, Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, Avila Beach--but honestly anywhere in the area is nice. You are like 20 minutes from three beaches, in arguably one of the best wine producing regions of the world that is not nearly as pretentious as Napa, and there are some good breweries too. If you ever visit California, I highly recommend a couple nights in San Luis Obispo.
If you're looking to spend a nice relaxing week or two, you can go Santa Barbara-->San Luis Obispo-->Monterey Bay-->San Francisco
A few hours from home. I would like to visit other impact craters.
A panorama I stitched together.
was there a few years ago. pretty cool but it was a little pricey

Anything by the freeway is expensive: gas, food, lodging, tourist areas. ;) Good thing we had a number of military discounts applied to us.
I was delighted with the visit to the Meteor Crater. But, my family was bored to death.
@jun_aka_pekto: is that where thor dropped his hammer?
You mean the crater? Well, it might as well be. Something fell from above and went kaboom!
There are bigger craters in other parts of the world. But, this is the best preserved. It should be. The impact occurred only about 50,000 years ago.

The Central Coast is always a great place to visit. I spent a number of years there although I preferred the Santa Barbara area and became a Toad the Wet Sprocket fan. Ha Ha! They're like a fixture over there.
The beaches are pretty cold though. I needed a wet suit if I was to spend any time in the water. Summers are also some of the coolest because of the marine layer fog. There were times when I only saw the sun maybe an hour or two a day. But, if you go a few miles east of the mountains, it's dry and balmy.
Oh. Another Central Coast thing that seems to be big there is tri-tips. I saw a number of (Highway 101) roadside eateries that specialized in it.
One thing that fascinated me about my home state of Nevada is the sheer desolation in some parts. I would think such places would be barren of man-made stuff. But, when I did (endurance) hikes when I was younger, I found arrowheads, a couple of early coins, and other debris.
The photo above is from 2015. Below is from my dashcam last year.

seems like something which would have been a national monument ( and would have been covered by my national parks pass ) but i was surprised to learn it was privately owned.

I don't mind. It makes Meteor Crater less of a tourist trap and also less crowded although the parking lot was packed when we visited.

Lake Havasu City in western Arizona is also an okay place to visit. The old real London Bridge is there. Just avoid the place during March(?) because it's become a Spring Break hangout for students.
Another area the family likes to visit is the coastal area between Los Angeles and San Diego such as Oceanside.
California really has varied regions, all within a few hours drive.
Come to Motherwell.
Looks okay although I like my skies to be blue. ;) I think I see a thin spot in the clouds there. Looks almost blue.
Aomori Prefecture at the northernmost part of Honshu in Japan is a wonderful place to visit except in winter where many places get over 200" of snow every winter.
Photo I took of a rest area road map.
The lake effect snow there is worse than the ones from the North American Great Lakes. Obviously..... More water from the Northern Pacific and colder temperatures, courtesy of the Siberian High. The coastal areas really get pummeled.
The fish at the fish market are straight out of the fishing boats. They don't get any fresher.
I also like to visit not a specific place, but an event. I absolutely love airshows. Loved em ever since I was a kid. If there's one nearby, it's guaranteed I'll be there.
I often volunteer my time to do whatever duties the organizers have available so I can get close to the aircraft and snap some photos. ;)
Also, no matter what country I visit, I always look for a lake to stop by. Most are tranquil and serene. Soothing to the mind.
I hiked Crater Lake and visited Lake Towada once. I'd like to see both again. Add Mt Pinatubo in the Philippines as well. I've never been there.
I travel for work, and here are some of the places that I've spent time in where I'd love to go back:
New Orleans (vacation with the wife)
London (work trip where I took a few days for myself)
Manila (been twice for work and enjoyed it quite a bit)
Seattle (spent a lot of time here and like it, as well as nearby Bellevue and Redmond)
Cancun (really touristy, though)

If I'm going to visit a tourist trap, I feel Antalya with its Mediterranean climate is by far my favorite. My eldest kid certainly loved it. She preferred Antalya over all of the places we visited in Europe. She wants to visit again.
He He. I checked out some recent videos of the resort we stayed at to see how tall some of the palm trees have grown. When we visited, the trees were barely up to my knees. Now, they're quite tall.
We didn't stay at the hotel itself though. The wife preferred a standalone family villa within the resort.
The place is always crowded though, being a favorite destination for Germans or Russians. When we were there, it was overflowing with Germans.
