So well the title explains everything. You just have to name songs with great bass lines. My favorite bass lines are the following:

  • Bullet in the Head - Rage Against The Machine
  • Hysteria - Muse
  • For Whom The Bell Tolls - Metallica
  • Laquer Head - Primus
  • Me and my bass guitar - Victor Wooten
  • Stone Cold Bush - Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • Love Foolosophy - Jamiroquai
  • A Certain Shade of Green - Incubus
  • Santeria - Sublime
  • Que no te haga bobo jacobo - Molotov
  • Sabotage - Beastie Boys

I really like Victor Wooten's version of "Norwegian Wood". If you are a bassist and have not seen this, look it up. NOW.

shocked not to see any STP here. My favorite is Plush by Stone Temple Pilots. Most of STPs songs use the bass as the melody of the song.

That is a great Bass Line.

Yes it is...

OMG - I forgot "Sweet Emotion" by Aerosmith.

Doo Doo Da-da-da doo doo doo...

That sounds nothing like it.

I also need to mention "Believe" by The Bravery

All you have to do is listen to the first 10 seconds, which is just bass.

Omg, "I Will Posses Your Heart" by Death Cab for Cutie is like a 9 minute song (the non-radio edit) with great bass.

I'm pretty sure the first 4 minutes is just the bass line with drums and some synth.

Also, "Parallel Universe" by RHCP is good. It's similar to the guitar, like most songs, but it's more prominent.

I think everyone here knows that "best Basslines ever" actually means "Best Basslines not by Jaco Pastorius".
The beginning of hysteria by Muse.-AK47-
I'm confused, the beginning? That's the bassline that runs through the whole song, they only change it for the chorus.

hmm

i want to name atleast one because theres sooooo many damn good ones. hmm. ya know what. pretty much any victor wooten would have made me number one and probably made up my entire list. but im thinking something from red hot chili peppers, 311, or sublime would suffice.

Most of the songs I thought of were already said.

I'll say MGMT- Electric Feel, because I love the bass line and I'm sure most people haven't heard it.

MrEnvelope

Anything by Jamiroquai's original bassist is great. Thuper.

Check out "Actual Proof" by Herbie Hancock. The bass playing on that is sick.

Jamiroquai's basslines are the funkiest pieces of music in modern times. We need more bass players like the original Jamiroquai one to appear on the radio and popular Tv channels. I'm tired of these Pete Wentz type of bass players that play the same notes as the guitar.
