have you tried safe mode?

Go there then go to Run and type Msconfig and do a clean boot.

1. Kick it
2. Repeat untill fixed
3. If not fixed in 30 mins, hammer it
4. Repeat untill fixed
5. If not fixed after 1 hour, Throw out window.

The PC I'm on now restarts without warning, but when it does, it's ALWAYS on myspace. Without fail.

Then when it has restarted, the error report can be...a devide driver, the RAM, an unknown shutdown, a corrupted error report...anything really. I'm inclined to think it's myspace rather than the PC.

I don't think it helps that I'm running SP1 though.

EDIT: and if myspace doesn't cause thePC to restart, it'll at least cause IE to crash. =/

this may be ur problem if u use an old computer (this happened to me) the fuses in it have exploded and are destroying the system u can get it fixed or buy a new computer it cost more to fix though so we got a new computer

if it is from the windows 98 period thats ur problem

It could be a whole host of problems. I'm thinking that there is a chance that it could be physical. Your Motherboard may have blown capacitors, your cpu may be getting really hot, shoddy ram, or your hard drive could be screwing up. Or it could be the usual suspects, Driver issues, bad Registry entries, viruses or rootkits.

Too much of teh pr0n? ;)

Jk man, it's probably the fan in your computer. It'll the insides (in simple terms) will overheat, causing errors. You need it replaced. And once you replace it, don't leave your computer on for really long periods of time, if possible.

i think its about time u open up ur pc and give it a little cleaning ;) dust will cause ur pc to overheat and turn off by itself.....ithas happened to me before, IE and firefox would crash instantly and the pc will turn off by itself....just open up ur pc and clean it up....if it doesnt fix it.....then u might wanna get a new pc cuz then its most likely do to a hardware problem....clean up ur pc first!!!

If it's not your cooler that might not be on correctly, listen to the area around your power supply when it boots up. If it's emitting a dog whistle like whine, then it means that your power supply is going. One of the signs of this happening is intermittent rebooting.

If it happens too much, it can ruin your installation and in the worst case, kill your partition.

My computer turns off completely for no reason. Actually, the last time it happened I was watching a Richard Dawkins video on Youtube. I think it was Jesus trying to stop me from watching it.
