Movies that you didn't get.

As in, you didn't necessarily think they were bad per say, but you don't understand the appeal or the critical acclaim of the movie. This is NOT an overrated movie thread.

I didn't understand Blade Runner, the Big Lebowski, or the Hangover.

Nice thread, as some people are saying Tha Hangover, and that was the same for me too, I was like it was okayish, but all my mates were like "omg that was the movie of the year... blah blah blah etc", it was trying to be funny, but I hardly got any laughs from it, maybe one or two.

Also, I know alot of people are going to hate me for saying this, but Inception was kinda like meh to me, didn't get it, but I think I need to watch it again to get "with it".

I dont know any movies like that but there are shows. Like Robot Chicken, I watch it and I dont get it. I mean I do get it but when I watch it I think "do people on this planet called earth see this and actually find it humorous". Its literally probably the most unfunny show I've ever seen in my entire life. Same with Carlos Mencia.

As for movies that just baffled me, I'd say Begotten tops the list. What the hell was that about? No clue.

Movies that I can't understand the popularity of... the list is a bit longer. Transformers, Juno, anything with Adam Sandler, Saw series.

Actually I change my mind, True Grit was just a regular movie to me. Nothing spectacular about it, and in some cases I found the cinematography to be downright amateurish. It wasnt a bad movie but when I finally looked up reviews and all that I was shocked at how well received it was.

Muholland Drive... I got it, but not why so many people love it... the acting was awful...

I don't understand how Avatar can get so much hate.

At any rate, I was blown away when I found out Starship Troopers recieved three stars. That movie was crap coated crap combined with bad acting.

Anyone who rates avatar as a movie has their opinion invalidated. Starship Troopers was awesome.

Clockwork Orange is one that comes to mind. That movie was just so dumb...I got the point of it but I don't get why they made it.

I hate comedy movies because I don't think comedies and movies can mix. But I loved this one. It was fun, not funny. Although there were a few moments that made me have a little laugh just because they acted so stupid.

Every recent superhero movie. Can we please have a final fight that doesn't last only a few minutes?

I agree with you on Apocalypse Now. People are like "OMG, it's so epic and is so moving!" Then I go "It's about 4 guys on a boat that go to get some crazy guy that, IMO, sounds really weird."

The new Star Trek.

So let me get this straight, Nero (the main antagonist) home planet is blowing up for COMPLETELY NATURAL REASONS beyond anyones control. Spock lives on the other side of the galaxy, hears of their plight and decides he might be able to use this Red Matter thing and save them. So he has to traverse the freaking galaxy to get there. But lo, he is to late and the planet self destructs.

And in some kind of contrived way, Nero reckons its Spock's fault his planet blew up and decided he would wait 25 years for the time warp thing to happen so he could get his "revenge"?

**** that. The antagonist has literally NO motivation. I mean, he's not even the typical "i want to rule the world" kind of badguy. He's just pissed at Spock for no reason, and they want to base the entire movie on THAT? **** you hollywood, you're not getting my money on this one.

Appocalypse Now, The Godfather, Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan and Taxi Driver are all movies that I never finished or struggled to get through.

I like RC, but I don't know anybody else that does. I find a lot of random things to be funny...
