Program is legal downloading, burning music on that is illegal but tell me how did your friend get caught did the police come and check his compurter or something :?
did u know some smart ass school like yale, hardverd, has the most illegal music download...i forgot what school it was. another thing, the government knows what programs u have even though u deleteed it, even a few years later they can find things.
The program is legal,but using it to download copyrighted songs, games, movies is illegal - and while not many people get cought, there is still a chance.
The program is legal, and you can download stuff legally, but you need to own the copyright to the material you wish to download. Which you don't. Therefore it is illegal to download the material. But the disclaimer will disappear into glorious obscurity at the click of a mouse. Odds are you won't get caught. Millions of people use it, 99% of those illegally. The authorities can't keep track of people using Limewire. There is a chance you will be caught, but it's negligable. People use it at their own risk.
The program I believe is legal as you're sharing files, but a couple of those files that are being "shared" have a copyright law that makes it illegal to share them that way (think movies and music). So in a way it's legal and illegal.

Downloading isnt so much the problem,its uploading which if you dont turn it of in limewire goes automaticly,there after the people who share loads of things.
the program is legal... and as far as I know its only 'illegal' if you download something protected by copyright laws... so you areallowed to share say for example songs made by yourself and stuff just not other peoples work(which is bascily all limewire is used for though).
