I daydream about sushi 24/7.

In fact, I'm eating sushi right now (just picked up some takeout).

I love that It hits every taste bud: sweet, savory, bitter, salty, spicy.

Not only is it absolutely delicious, but it's also super healthy. Tuna and salmon are high in protein and rich in omega 3's. Just avoid the mayo-based varieties as they tend to be high in fat.

Now if you guys will excuse me, I'm going to enjoy my dinner ^_^

Tell me what you foods you guys like.

A nice rare steak with green beans, mashed potatoes and asparagus. You only live once and this is in my opinion the best meal you can eat. A couple pints of beer and a few glasses of red wine to wash it down.

As Iszdope said, some chicken, preferably fried with some home style mac and cheese is the way to rip. Throw in some biscuits and some watermelon with grape drink for dessert.

Ah Sushi, it sits right at the top of my food's intrigues' list. A trip to an authentic Sushi place will be one of the first things I'll do if I ever manage to see the world, though I'm afraid all the enticement may tag along the first bite I retch...

I'm not a foodie per se; I don't care for most of what popular cuisines have to offer and I tend to appreciate simplicity in cookery. Asian cuisines - Japanese in particular - however, are a different story as I find them in harmony with my palates and preference for simplicity. One downside of them though is their reliance on what's considered recherche condiments around here, which makes them hard to come by and outrageously expensive.

Recently I've been on a streak of culinary ventures. I tried my first fried rice recipe and I was quite impressed with the results. I also tried making kohi zeri last night but the results weren't as impressive. Nevertheless, it was more than edible.

That really depends on what you go for. Sushi rice is pretty high on the glycemic index, and there's more of it in a meal of sushi than many people realize.

Of course it's important to recognize that a healthy diet can be achieved if treats like that are taken in moderation, but a high carb low fiber meal doesn't become "super healthy" just because it's not covered in mayonnaise.

Well said. It really does depend on variety.

But fyi, you can switch out the white rice for brown rice instead and get a bunch of fiber that way; it also has a lower glycemic index rating, more antioxidants, etc. The nori (aka seaweed) also has fiber.

The result is a high protein, high fiber, low-fat meal. Not too bad.

Lots of people are intimidated by sushi.

My advice is to try out a California roll (the only meat it has in it is cooked crab meat).

If you like that, and you have an urge to try out some of the raw stuff, I highly recommend salmon or tuna sushi. Unlike other kinds of fish, salmon and tuna aren't fishy tasting.

The tuna fish spends a lot of time in the ocean, growing big and strong, compared to the vast majority of other aquatic species.

As such, during it's expansive lifetime, the tuna manages to accumulate a significant amount of poisonous and cancer-inducing metals, just like dolphins - a species riddled with modern ailments.

Granted, there was a time when the tuna fish made for healthy consumption. Sadly, that time ended in conjuction with the rise of the industrial age.

Good quality sashimi is worth checking out, some of the cheaper cuts can contain fish parasites which aren't good for you as are some of the toxic metals people have mentioned. When I was in Japan (/namedrop) didnt eat much sushi - much preferred okonomiyaki and some of the tofu/ vegetarian food that the monks eat (surprisingly good). Had the sake with a fish in though, that was different.

Otherwise, big fan of middle eastern food - Lebanese is always welcome...

Halal reminds me of those food carts at Manhattan. It's street food. But, it's very addicting. I always ate there every time I visited NYC. Love it.

My wife figured out a good recipe for sweet chili salmon and er-mer-gerd. It's my favorite food at the moment. Other favorites of mine include crab legs and garlic shrimp.

Now I'm hungry.

I'm a big fan of Chinese cuisine, though I dislike seafood. Honey sesame beef is delicious as is lomain, rice, egg rolls, etc.

As far as non-chinese food goes I love me a good steak and potatoes.

My absolute favorite food is spaghetti with bolognese sauce. I've loved spaghetti since I was little and I'm so excited that I can now make my sauce myself as almost no store bought sauces or restaurants sauces are to my liking. To be honest, I love just a lot of Italian foods, and could (and do) eat them almost every day.

I'm also a big fan of Thai and Chinese cuisine, my favorites being Phad Makhuea, Phad Ki Mao, hot pot and pork in sherry wine sauce.

Do you dislike all seafood or just fish? I'm not really a big fan of fish (though cooked certain ways I'll gobble up any kind of fish).

This, however, is seafood at its finest:

How do you make it?

Cook some chicken with peppers and a small onion, sprinkle powder, heat wraps in microwave for 20 sec, add lettuce, wrap up. Ignoring defrosting the chicken, takes about 10-15 minutes.

That's using the prepackages, I'm sure the Mexicans will have some mythical proper authentic way of doing.
