I remember my first one, 7 years ago. Yeah, it was awesome. I barely coughed either. Now, 7 years later, I'm up to almost 2 packs a day. I can't climb a flight of steps without getting winded. I'm paying over $60/week on smokes. I have no energy, and I feel sick half the time. Give it up while you can. You had a smoke, now you can always say you tried it, but stop. Take it from me.

God two packs a day? Do you do anything during the day? Even when I was a security guard working graveyard outdoors I barely smoked a pack a day. I mean, how do you find time for all of that.

To the OP if you arn't then don't. On the other hand we all die some day and money is made to be spent. I quit a year ago and still deal with it today. To be honest if my current situation were different I would probably start again. As it stands that isn't possible at the moment. But again, it shouldn't be at the top of your list of awesome.

It's proven that smoking kills and yadda yadda but seriously, I am a chronic asthmatic and I would give ANYTHING to be able to have healthy lungs, even for a week so I could exercise normally and walk up stairs without wheezing, or not spend a week in the hospital next time I get pneumonia. Not at all advocating this but you asked why so I will step up to the plate.

Stress relief. Rather it is proven or not to chemically relieve stress there is the mentalaspect to it and in so far as that goes it does.

Appetite suppressant.

Believe it or not there are some peoplewho doit to relieve boredom.

When I smoked I used it as an excuse to get away from people every once in a while. As it turns out in the working world in some places it isn't socially acceptable behavior anymore.
