I can definately say that this movie was very good, a tad over-rated, but nevertheless an excellent production. Seeing it in 3D was also amazing. I love those 3D movies where something flies out at you and the audience moves back- like the thing is really coming at you.

The movie looks good and is made well but I have major disagreements with the philosophy portrayed within the movie.

I didnt see it in 3D so I missed the 3D experience which was supposed to be its biggest feature, because it certainly wasnt its story. I thought it was a boring and predictable film.Big_Bad_Sad

That movie had a massive amount of potential, and it only required a single change in the premise to open the floodgates to that potential. Unfortunately, they did not make said change in premise.

Seeing it in 3D was great but I think the movie is completely overrated.

Its good but its not what everyone hypes it up to be.

I hated it. Why see a sci-fi movie if it has no interesting sci-fi elements? I just hated it, and in no way is the storyline "good enough". Was the movie bad? No, of course not. GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? No, of course not. Just forget about it already, why do you guys love it so much? It's predictable and trite, and definitely worth any of the attention it's getting, save for the brilliant special effects. So marvel at the effects, don't lie to yourselves and say it's a great movie, cause it most definitely is not... (not trying to be an elitist here, it's just not an interesting or an original movie)

No, the visuals were excellent, but overall, it was not a great movie, average.

That's it exactly. Completely generic story with horrid predicatable cardboard cutout characters.

But with outstanding visual effects and vibrant world.

Could have been better as a 1 hr special on the Discovery Channel exploring a fictious planet with a decent voiceover explaining the interesting aspects of the life on that planet.

Citizen Kane? What does that have to do with Avatar? If anything, the better response would have been "go cry to your Dances with Wolves", considering that movie is the better version of Avatar.

Avatar bored the hell out of me, and this is coming from someone who was seriously hyped for it, and even ignored all the dances with wolves/smurf jokes that people made before it was released. One of the biggest disappointments in a long time.

I dug it a lot even though the story has been done many times before, execution was its strong point. Plus I'm Aboriginal and I was pumped to see the Natives win in such epic fashion. :lol:

without 3D...it's just a horrible movie. It's overrated by media/news because of 3D.

Its story and concept has been done for millions times before, and it's not doing better than previous movies.

story & concept = Princess Mononoke + Dancing with wovles + Evangelion + bunch of Japanese animation

Since it's a sci-fi movie, let's see what technology it has: lol human army sucks avatar, even today's US army can own them easily...it has only old fashion helicopters? no UAV? no speedy Jet? no nuke? come on, they can travel to other planets, but human military technology seems degraded.

Overall, it's a 3/10 movie without 3D.

Sam Worthington's accent bothers me immensely.

As for Avatar, it was very pretty, but very hollow.

Represents the problem with many Hollywood modern blockbusters; big special effects budget, almost no attempt to push the envelope in storytelling, dialogue or screenplay writing. Considering how relatively inexpensive these things are to the other things Avatar achieved, there really isn't an excuse.

Visual quality was top-notch. Creature and Navi designs could have been better. Story should have been rewritten into something that made it more than just a kids film.

It really disliked it because of the story line and the length. (Alot of the scenes were simply just unncessary), I also hated the lack of conflict until the end, they could have you know? Not totally rip off pocahauntus and variate a little. I mean they didn't even attempt to show tension between the natives and humans at all.. in short bad, predictable movie with subpar action depending on visuals.
