Depends what age. A lot of the time in highschool and such kids (yeah i'm only 18)... kids are retarded and naive teenagers who think their silly crushes might be 'love' and so when a girl says she likes a guy, well she might, until later that day when some other guy says hi and she's suddenly in love with him.

If you mean blatently pretending... I can't say it's 'normal.' Sometimes they do it to see if you like them and it sucks if you do.
