I just found out that they are making, Men in Black 3, Independence Day 2 and 3, Final Destination 5 and probably another 10 Saw movies. This leads me to the question, is Hollywood in a terminal decline of ideas?

I am actually looking forward to Men in Black 3 even though I did not like 2 nearly as much as I liked #1. Independence Day was a fun movie and I think the next 2 should be decent popcorn flicks. Final Destination 5.... WHY!!! Seriously the first one I liked, the 2nd was ok but pushing it. After that its god awful dreck that I can't stand anymore. Saw I just hate that series altogether. Bottom line Hollywood has been out of ideas for years so I agree with that point of your post.I just found out that they are making, Men in Black 3, Independence Day 2 and 3, Final Destination 5 and probably another 10 Saw movies. saw 7 will be the last one... so i dont know where you heard there would be 10 more anyway... no, people want those movies, so theyre giving them to the people, theyre not saying "here you go, LastCaveMan, have these movies!"8-Bitterness
where's the originality gone? chris nolan cant make heist movie ripp-offs, all on his own. Hollywood are just dragging up dead franchises
Looking at the signals comming out of hollywood, I would have to say yes.
A lot of the big companys which makes up the Hollywood we know are doing quite horribly economical, and there is a limit to how many rehashes of movies you can make before everyone tire out.
If I temember correctly theaters are not doing too hot either.
There is a reason why Avatar was claimed to be "the movie to save Hollywood"
Altho when talkign about this, what is dying is the Hollywood we know and grew up with, I doubt Hollywood would die, but the budgets of movies have become downright silly, and thier income does not match the costs anymore. (Or so I have gotten the impression)
The bloat of Hollywood, will likely be trimmed, and give way to a new generation of Movie studios. Ironically I kind of blame videoGames for the decline, together with the lack of ideas, and endless remakes.
did you see inception?Link334
the basic idea of inception is original, but done in a very unoriginal way. the movie is pseudo intellectual, Memento is 10000 x better

Agreed, the only reason people think it's an intelligent film is because it's made in a way that makes it difficult to follow.Yeah, creatively, Hollywood is in the intensive care unit and it is so because their only motivation to produce a movie is how much money it will generate.
Really? You're missing out then, there're some really great movies out there.I dont watch movies, so i could really care less.

Well in the long run that is how a business should be run. Supply and demand. If people are more than willing to keep shoveling out money to watch movies that are in no way new and just the same old formula than Hollywood has all rights to keep throwing it at us. There are alot of good independent movies that come out but most get pushed by the wayside and never make alot of money cause they get run over by the big Hollywood productions. Also doesn't help that most of the independent movies don't make it out of a few choice markets, namely LA and NY.Yeah, creatively, Hollywood is in the intensive care unit and it is so because their only motivation to produce a movie is how much money it will generate.

Memento is entirely based on a gimmick. failing to see the better, herethey haven't run out of original ideas, they're just putting too much money into movies to take chances. even if taking a chance or two would make Hollywood...i don't know, not suck? They're not dying. Unfortunately. They've just run out of original ideas.

Whatever the case, the fact remains that they do suck. There are some gems, Inception was one this summer, but not many.

yeah this could be the worst summer for quality in film history.I reckon Saw 3D's gonna be alright. They seem to be going all out for this one. They had some activity in Sydney last week where they were inviting people to get Halloween photos. The links here http://ow.ly/2WRaW. Does anybody know if they're gonna be doing this again?

I haven't seen memento but I agree that Inception is ridiculously overrated, the story telling being compared to that of a video game says it all really...Really? You're missing out then, there're some really great movies out there.[QUOTE="PernicioEnigma"][QUOTE="edinsftw"]

I have video games...they are more fun
Fair enough, in my opinion the only genre of film games can ever replace are action movies. You mean the one that kept churning out Friday the 13th and Star Trek sequels?Altho when talkign about this, what is dying is the Hollywood we know and grew up with,
