To me, death is like one of those things that is just so hard to fathom that is hurtsmy head to think about it. It's like the whole concept of "space never ends", it's just beyond what my mind can grasp. Now lately I have been thinking about death (don't ask why, I was just thinking about it.) and I was trying to figure out what it would be like to be dead. Sure it's like it was beforeany of us was born, just nothingness, but then comes the birth and the nothingness ends. Well, with death the nothingness begins again, so that got me thinking, "how the hell can there be nothingness FOREVER?!"

So I thought about that, and I realized what if there isn't "nothingness", but what if we become sort of like someone who looks over everyone else, but you can move on to other things that you want to see. You aren't "stuck" in your body anymore and you can just go wherever. Almost like the camera to a third person videogame. I know this isn't exactly the most original thought process, but it got me curious about what happens after we die. I used to be one of those people that says, "when you die you're dead so there is nothing." That seemed to extreme to me. Maybe I'm just overthinking, but this has really made me want to die in a sense :? but only if I could come back to tell you all what happens, ha.

Your thoughts on death? What do you believe happens when we die?

I'm not afraid of death, though I'm not welcoming it with open arms. I just know it will happen eventually.

What happens after death is impossible to know until we die.. all I know is that there's something I want after death, but it's not based on fact or possibilities, simply a desire.

Thanks for your serious respons. I think that's what I'm running on right now, the whole desire thing. I'm sure what I stated isn't going to happen, but I think it would be very cool if it did, and if it does, I am going to be one happy dead man.

I'm not afraid of death, and I think that when I die, I'm dead. I'm not going anywhere. I'm just a mammal, I don't have a "soul". I'll just stop working.

I think it's an inescapable fate and one that could come at any second so it's best to live your life without giving it much thought as to when it will all end.

Definitely, but it's during that time of dying, whether it be 2 seconds or 2 years, that the person is probably thinking "what the hell is nothingness forever going to be like." unless they believe in Heaven and Hell, then they know they're going to one of the two places. For someone like me though, that doesn't believe in that, or God, I just think it's crazy how we're just going to be "dead" for the rest of our "lives" (wait...what?) it's just something that amazes me.

For all we know though, being dead could be the scariest thing ever. It's the fact that I don't know what the hell is going to happen that just makes me think and think.

When you die....OMFG you become a zombie!!!!

All joking and bad grammer aside, this is a pretty serious topic. "Just like other mammals". Sit and think for a moment. If you were just a fleshy computer, how would you be percieving the world? Humans should just be robotic, maybe acting the same, but not truly existing. The fact is, your sentience, self-awareness, soul, whatever you want to call it, should not exist. You should bea purely reactionary force, like how a program can be created to simulate a conversation without it having atrue "perspective", or any kind of introspective thought. The existance of yourself as a "perspective" is proof that there is more to the universe than meets the eye. As such, I choose to believe that there is more to existance than this life.

Why is there a universe to begin with? Shouldn't a state of nothingness be more natural than one in which such a myriad of life thrives? Why are there natural forces? Matter? If something can't come from nothing, then why is there anything at all? There is obviously a deeper answer to the universe than we think. This should be a source of optimism. At least it is for me. Maybe I'm just wierd.

death can be scary for yeah, we don't really know what happens after death, though religion says otherwise as well as re-incarnation. To be honest we may never know, but some people after thinking about life after death get scared or become really impatient to end their lives just to find out. Personally I'd be the latter of the two but I don't feel like going so fast.

Its scary only if you make it out to be scary, a way that I see death being awesome is to end the 'pain of living'. I'm not saying that everyone suffers from living, though some do due to not looking around at life. Though I am that way too... seeing how I don't like having to deal with things but I just live onwards looking to see what I get thrown at next. :|

Well, I dont believe in neither heaven or hell rather I'm a buddhist, I believe in Reincarnation, when you die.. over an expanded time he become rebirthed into someone else, and have no memory of it. Sounds wacko but hey, its what i believe in.. cuz im probaly the only buddhist here right now...

Death is just something we have to live with, because..well.. we all live with it. It is a part of all of us because, as we all know, somehow someday we will pass on.

It's all about acceptance, the more we accept the less scary it becomes...or so i would like to think.

A very, very close family friend passed away on july the 29th of a brain tumour.

I still am not over it, and i will never get over it.

When the family friend passed away it was the most distraught i have ever been in my life, and i honestly beleive i will never be the same again (i'am sure i will begin to think less and less of it as time goes on, but i will always remember it)

Death really is extraordinary; Just the fact that someone can be taken away in mere seconds is unfathomable, yet so real it's scary.

And i guess the scariest thing is that there is no way whatsoever so matter what to find out what death is like, in regards to what is it like being dead, and if there is any sorts of after life.

Sad days.

I'm rather looking forward to death, not in a morbid, suicidal way but in a new adventure sort of way because after your body is dead your brain keeps working for 10 or 12 minutes which isnt very long but it also releases large amounts of DMT into your system which is a chemical that causes very vivid and believable hallucinations and also distorts the perception of time. So after you die it would be quite like dreaming forever, being able to do anything, know everything. Theres nothing scary about that, infact its really quite exciting
