Florence Brudenell-Bruce, a lingerie model who has been romantically linked to the 26-year-old Prince, is his cousin eight times removed.

The pair reportedly began dating recently after the Prince's relationship with Zimbabwean-born Chelsy Davy finally came to an end.

Miss Brudenell-Bruce is a descendant of the seventh Earl of Cardigan, Lieutenant General James Thomas Brudenell, who famously led the Charge of the Light Brigade against the Russians during the Crimean War.

Her connection to the Royal family comes through Sir Edward Walpole, the son of Britain's first prime minister Sir Robert Walpole. Sir Edward, who died in 1784, had a daugher, Maria, who married into the Royal family.

This reporting is interesting in the sense that some royal families in the past have done inbreeding to keep royalty in one specific bloodline, but this just seems like an attempt to resurface that age old claim once again.
