I was doing the incline dumbbell flyer and I got careless resulting in my left arm to rotate weirdly-if that makes any sense.

It hurt a lot at the beginning then it stopped. But now it hurt really bad. I'm afraid this is something serious or perminant :( is it only a tear down?

You should probably consult a medical proffessional.

May I suggest Web MD ;)

But seriously, you should go see a doctor.

Best thing to do is see a doctor. He probably knows more about it than GS members.

Then, you probably don't wanna buy meat from them, either. You don't wanna inadvertantly become Hannibal Lecter.

I don't know. But the best thing is probably to let it heal over time.

Yeah...I still don't know.

Is GameSpot really the best place for you to ask this? Aren't you worried about such an action?

Your gym buddies might have some useful advice, if they have gotten the same injury before. But really the best thing to do would be to visit a doctor

according to them, it should not be serious but I have to rest for at least a week from the gym. I'm worried it could be something permanent or serious like operation. according to my description, could it be a tear down?

I know that if I ever finally get around to burtally killing someone, the first thing I'm gonna do is jump on Gamespot, tell everyone about it and ask them how I should best dispose of the body.
Perhaps with a poll :)

Yeah you might have FUBAR'ed yourself. It happens. Out of all of my friends that have started serious workout routines recently, I am the only one that didn't jack a bone out of place, tear a muscle, or some other serious ailment that doesn't resolve itself really...ever.

Sounds like you might of torn a mucsle. Take some pain reliving medicine for body aches (Aleve, Motrin, etc), then get some IcyHot patches and let it heal. Give it a week at least and if the pain persists, you need to go to the doctor. It hurts because your body is trying to rebuild the muscle you tore.

Yeah my buddy, who is much stronger than me, on flys no less, got chest pains out of nowhere. Turns out his rib was popped out of place. Now he has problems with it chronically.

I wish you the best! But a lot of times these injurys are nagging. You have to be really careful when lifting.

You are not going to find answers in a gaming forum thread. Get help from someone who can actually help you. Common sense should tell you who that will be.

Thanks for all the replies. I asked here since some of you do weight lifting and may have experienced something like this. It hurts when I leave my arm flat, and it does not hurt when I make like an L. I took some pain relief pills.

It's really early to tell. I've had injuries that seemed serious for the first couple of days, then turned out to be nothing once I rested them. Just don't put any stress on it. (I'm not a doctor, but I play one on OT)

I think I'm freaking out. I always freak out with health related issues. I was upset for more than a month because of a rough tooth removal.

It's natural. When I hurt the arch of my foot running, I could barely walk for 3 or 4 days. I went to the doctor, who said that it was just a mild sprain, put it in an Ace bandage, and charged me $350. Later, I hurt my knee playing hockey. I couldn't walk without pain for a week, then a couple of weeks later, it was perfectly fine. I strongly doubt that you did permanent damage. The question is just how long it will take to heal. In the meantime, you can work out other parts of your body (core, legs, cardio, etc)

It could be biceps tendonitis, or some other sort of rotator cuff injury.

He posts on here so he can get attention. Isn't it obvious? If it was really serious, then he would consult a doctor or maybe a family member. But instead, he decides to ask Gamespot.........I mean seriously???

sounds like a rotator cuff issue, if it is your shoulder will need a few weeks of rest followed by a few months of babying. your OP was not quite crystal though if you get my meaning.

Use heat then ice on it as much as possible. You probably over stretched the muscles in your arm. It will be soar for quite a while. Just keep tensing and relaxing your are with the heat and cold. Also keep eating protein do give your body something to help it make repairs to the muscle. You'll be fine, just give it some time.

go to a butcher, maybe he'll turn out to be a doctor.

kidding kidding, sorry.

i would say stay away from weights or any activity that would cause pain to the shoulder. maybe take some pain meds and try not to move it and rest. go to webMD too.
