My friend saud that they were a huge... let me reiterate that...A HUGE Metallica fan, but only knew Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets, and One. How many of you guys know someone who is like this. It is painful trying to talk to them/ and I know the early 80's Metallica with Cliff was more badass than todays pop punk Metallica

While you friends definitely exaggerated being fans, I hope you aren't implying it's wrong to like the well-known/popular songs by a band more than the obscure ones.

Haha so true! Im not native but my mother married a man from the Seneca natives. I have lived amonst them for 8 years now =P. But back on subject, I HATE NEW METALLICA! After ...And Justice for All i dont listen to them. I even hate Jason Newsted hor however you spell his moronic name. But yeah I have a few friends that are like that, If there is a band that I only like a couple songs by I dont consider myself their biggest fan. Oh, BTW, Enter Sandman Blows Chunks.

It isn't only with metallica i really hate when people just love the popular songs and never listen the ones that aren't popular, i mean do you buy an album to just listen one song?
Yeah, I knew this one girl who when I asked her who her favourite band was she said Green Day. I asked her favourite song and she said Boulevard of Broken Dreams (this was like back in early 05 just as this song was at its peak popularity) and then I told her the only song by Green Day that I liked, Brain Stew, and she says she has never heard of it. I facepalmed.
im quite pop-ish in my music, i only have a couple of the more well known songs on my ipod. the only music group i have more than ten songs for is The Academy Is... they are just awesome, and everyone of their songs reminds me of summer.

Yeah I've got nothing against people that wear Pink Floyd shirts, just the ones who know nothing about the band or really listen to their music, same goes for any band I guess.
It's even worse when they say they hate a band even though they only know one song by them. Then you play them another song without telling them who it's by. They like it and you tell them who it's by and they suddenly love the band. Then they do what you said too! That's happened to me at least twice.
yeah I hate it when my friends start discovering bands and only listen to their major hits, its like they should check out their entire discography within a week of listening to them!
I also hate when people moan about what music people listen to; so what if they only listen to a bands major hits. If they're enjoying what they're listening to then it's no big deal.

Back on topic: I know what you mean. I used to be like that with Led Zeppelin (Stairway and kashmir) but i listened to their whole library and now i love almost every song.
Most of my friends listen to music I think is terrible to begin with so in the end I don't even care how uneducated they are about their favorite bands to be honest.
