Whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania sues Gawker all its assets!

Link

The six person jury in St. Petersburg, Florida -- four women and two men -- deliberated for nearly six hours.

Hogan, dressed all in black including a black bandana, cried when the verdict was announced.

The ex-wrestler, whose real name is Terry Bollea, had sued Gawker, founder Nick Denton and former editor A.J. Daulerio for posting the nearly two-minute segment of a Hogan sex tape in 2012. Hogan's suit claimed Gawker violated his privacy and sought $100 million.

"Mr. Bollea is exceptionally happy. This is not only his victory today, but also anyone else who's been victimized by tabloid journalism," his lawyer David Houston said outside the courtroom. Hogan stood quietly behind the lawyer, his sunglasses failing to conceal dried tears on his cheeks.

Good for him. Because no one deserved to be bullied by journalists or Aka, revenge porn. The journalist deserve to be in jail IMO.

Well, Gawker Media will have to start cutting jobs and may have to spin-off some of their child sites like Kotaku.

Let me tell you something, op! Hulk Hogan, like everyone else, brother, deserves his privacy, brother. Like the fappening, "They should not have made these tapes in the first place." Is an absurd argument, as these vids, pics were stolen. 100 million? Really though. Maybe he sued for twice as much as he wanted, because his ex wife will get half of his settlement.

Hulk Hogan being the person to close Kotaku would cement his legacy as the best human being of all time.

I doubt they have assets worth that much.

After I read the article I imagined Hulk launching himself from a low Earth orbit platform and dropping an atomic leg drop onto Gawker's heads.

If they go down, I say good riddance. That unethical pile of filth of a company deserved being wiped off the face of the Earth.

Good for him that site truly is an embarrassment to any type of journalism whether it be politics/sports/gaming all of their content is pure garbage. Hopefully they are forced to shut down.

Isn't this story related to the racist remarks?

So no big loss is what you are saying. Good.

Seriously though good for him; as much as I enjoyed the sex tape (he talks to his daughter at one point mid-screw, it is pretty funny...but he is such a sweatheart about it) it's pretty damn wrong for it to be published, celebrity or not.

Hopefully that toxic company and all of its spawn will finally burn.

They signed their own death warrant when they posted taunts in response to a judge's order to take down the video, then began lying in court and joking about child porn.

I haven't been a fan of Hulk Hogan since before High School (and not just because he, apparently, would not be cool with the idea of me dating his daughter) but good for him. Gawker seems to try to go out of its way to remind people what the absolutely bottom of the barrel looks like in journalism. Between their celebrity stalking website, to posting illegally stolen photos of nude celebs, to just being generally crap journalists who screw up their fact checking on a pretty regular basis, I wouldn't be sad to see the likes of them go (although I'd prefer it of Kotaku stuck around). The parent company pulled in about 45 million in 2014 so I don't know if this judgement will result in the company getting the axe.

At least Gawker.com is moving out of celebrity gossip and into the world of reporting on politics. "Politics? Meet Gawker. You guys fucking deserve each other..."

They got hit for some pretty hefty punitive damages, can't say I'm surprised. Seems like a big violation of someone's privacy and its a scummy site.

Certainly should have won, but the damages awarded are flat out ridiculous.

Most people who have been seriously injured by a bad doctor get about 400k. Most lawsuits involving deaths pay less than a million. This guy screws his friend's wife and gets 110 million? WTF.

110 with another 25 mil on top. It is absurd. In a sort of roundabout way, he's getting awarded for being a cheater and racist.

They are almost certainly going to appeal. In the state they won they do have to put up the damages in lieu of appeal, but I believe they can get a bond for that. I think they will still get hit big time, but I don't think they'll end up paying anywhere close to 135 mil.

That quite the amount of compensation.

Granted I agree they've very likely overreached and Invaded his privacy and he is entitled to compensation, but I'd probably not gone over 10 mill at most. Then again Celebrities tend to get different treatment then the average joe.
