Ok, so we have all caused the untimely death of a controller or two at some point. Whether the reasons be stupidity, frustration, or pure and simple insanity, we are all undoubtedly guilty of this atrocity.

How many game controllers have died by your hand in all your years of gaming?

I have 1 N64 controller whose analog stick doesn't work anymore, always drifts downward and my DS3's Dpad seems to be getting kind of weak. Both are from overuse though.

none from throwing them or anything like that, but some have just stopped working. 2 or 3 PS2 controllers have stopped working. all my xbox controllers work, but the sticks on a few of them are now crap so i don't use them.

The only controllers I have that are broken are ones that wore out from use. I don't have anger issues.

Not including N64 controllers naturally wearing out due to their design. I've killed one.

I shattered one controller after a bunch of kills were stolen (Black Ops) and noticing my K/D was only 2.10 K/D during that game. Another one was kinda broken when I threw at the ground in celebration of decimating 5 guys (5v2 Black Ops) my and my friend trolled.

I wouldn't say I have killed them. But through natural wearing off they have slowly started not working well.

I don't think I have one that completely doesn't work. My brother once got angry at Conker's Bad Furday and through our controller on the ground and the joystick just went straight back into the controller. Stuck. My friend got mad at call of duty and threw his controller at the wall and broke it.

I do get angry at games, but I have never taken it out on my controller.

The analog sticks on my three N64 controllers are a little under-responsive, but other than that, everything's been working fine.

I've went through several mouses, several keyboards and countless headphones. Never raged at them, all through wear and tear.

I'd still be playing my N64 every now and then if only the controllers didn't have a limited life to them. There's gotta be some custom controllers on Ebay somewhere...

Anyway, I've slightly damaged maybe 3 or 4 different controllers, and completely destroyed an old sh*tty (unofficial) PS1 controller. The D-pad was horrendous...

I've thrown my ps3 controller several times on the floor, into the wall, and once into my brick fireplace. Other than the fact it rattles a bit it still works.

Only one PS2 was completely smashed. I threw it on the tiles in anger (can't remember what for)

I've thrown a few others but only chipped them. I make sure to throw them on the carpet or lounge so they don't break completely because proper PS3 controllers are expensive...

i swear my controllers didn't start breaking until this gen, so far the count is 1 Xbox 360 controller destroyed when I slammed my sofa down on it by accident, 1 xbox 360 controller with a loose analog stick which got screwed up playing the stupid arm wrestling game in GTA IV: Lost & Damned, still works but sometimes annoyingly drifts on me in some games with high sensititivity, 1 Dual Shock 3 with horrible SIXAXIS detection but I use it most because my working SIXAXIS has no rumble, and 1 Xbox 360 controller died when my roommates girlfriend spilled her latte on it getting it all sticky and ruining some of the buttons, worked still but wasn't functional to my needs. Before that I've had like 20 years of not breaking my controllers. Oh and my dog loves chewing on the cable box remote for some reason, she's chewed up like 3 of them, they still work just covered in teeth marks and the battery covers won't fit on them we have to tape them down.

nope. none. they've broke out of wear and tear.

but out of anger, never.

but i have gotten very close sometimes. think the last time was Jak 2.

there is a mission where you gotta pick up three rebels while:

  1. racing against the clock
  2. getting shot at from the enemy very aggressively
  3. the friendly AI guys you gotta pick up are PAINFULLY slow and dumb
  4. the hover car you ride cannot brake properly it merely drifts at a very slow pace.

now remember your constantly getting shot at while this is happening, you are hoving away from the friendly AI, then the AI is painfully slow as to when to move.

haven't been that frustrated with a game in a very long time. but i did finally finish tha mission.

Those numbers are way too spread apart.

But though I've never rage destroyed a controller, I have worn down a couple of old PS2 controllers (one was a quickfire controller and the X button jammed and turned it almost unusable), and am in the process of losing a Dualshock 3 for my PS3, with its left analog stick barely working and missing the cover.

I broke the thumbstick off my Gamecube controller (Some Beyblade game).

2-3 PS2 (NFS Most Wanted).

I haven't killed any 360 controllers, but did damage a few pretty well (MW2, threw my controller once in Halo 3 because of a FFA match).

Do Gameboys count? 'Cause I destroyed one because of Super Mario World. No lie, I litterally threw it across my room...lol

About 7 or 8 A couple of n64 cables broke'd A couple back on the original xbox (dem cords were weak as) 3 360 controllers which got torn into pieces A razer onza TE, (but then again those things can be broken by looking at them funny) And 1 corded madcatz controller. It's mostly as a result of CoD, Halo, or Gears of War, Although, my current LE Red controller has got pretty nasty stick drift as a result of The Kid on SMB

My PS2 controller ended up with a sticky shoulder button and a piece of plastic rattling around inside it after playing Primal, which used that one shoulder button for pretty much all attacks. After the big long boss battle(s) at the end, my index finger was cramping up and my controller had seen better days.

Not me because I value my stuff. I did have a friend when I was younger spike his NES controller on the hardwood floor whenever he died in Gradius. The controller never broke though. NES is built to last.
