How did you start to watch anime?

I'm Asian and I never care about anime, while my non-asian friends love them and even a few who act tough also watch them. But last week I finally found an anime that interests me, it's called Valkyria Chronicles and the story actually caught my attention, and are better than most American movies. Now I wish there's an anime for Halo that does not suck, and it shouldhave Vultures in it.

Anyway how did you start to watch anime?

Also if you like Valkyria Chronicles you should play the game. The anime is good, but the game is epic.

How? Well the first anime I watched was either Dragon Ball or Doraemon, so that I guess?
I didn't know they were called anime at the time though. :P

I'm in the DBZ boat too. Then I watched Berserk. After that I went out and found every anime I could.

I came upon some anime on TV when I was 10 years old. I am 20 now.

I also remember late at night on Fridays there was this thing called "Japanimation" that came on the channel that became PAX (now known as ION) and it played Barefoot Gen and Akira

Can't remember, I think it was a friend. I still watch it to this day though, and probably will continue in the future. Anime is more entertaining and has better stories than most of the rubbish coming out these days.

Maybe it was watching Akira one time started my interest

I can see a lot of people talking about Toonami. Thats how I got into it.

I was 5 years old & was watching Toonami & the first episode of Dragon Ball Z was on.Ever since that day,i've watched all the episodes of DBZ :D

DBZ, toonami, pokemon, and digimon. This was the start.

My mom played My Neighbor Totoro for me when I was a little kid :)

But what really got me into anime was DBZ..

Watched dragon ball z when I was younger. Came across cowboy bebop and ghost in the shell SAC on cartoon network one time and enjoyed it. I started watching those 2 and then eventually started looking for more. I have kind of gone off anime these days though but I would still rewatch GITS, Cowboy bebop, Legend of the galactic heroes and black lagoon.

Elfen Lied, decided to watch it for some reason. It was just so interesting I had to find more.PS2_ROCKS

I started watching Bleach like three years ago, but I stopped watching anime for like a year now.Lonelynight

In the late '60s they started airing Speed Racer and Kimba the White Lion and I was quite taken with the at times epic nature of the shows. Unfortunately they only aired the shows on UHF channels so it was a constant battle attempting to watch more of these episodes and occasionally I had to go visit a cousin or a good friend who had better reception in order to get my fix.
