I'm not a theist.. but I don't believe the concept of theism exists with god throwing lightning bolts as those who sin.. but rather suffer indirectly... by the poor choices they make through out their life time. As well as going to hell.. once they perish.

If They Are On The Right Path With God And Slip Up And Ask For Forgiveness, They Are Forgiven. If They Have Not Accepted Him, Then, Unless They Repent Before It Is Too Late, Hell Is Waiting For Them.

eh, hell should have the more interesting people and discussion anyway. if it exists, it certainly isn't going to be torment. i think i learned on here that all it is is the absence of god, so if you don't accept him, you get the same in hell as in life, which is pretty good as far as i can tell. those that accept him go to heaven where all they get is someone that they have to obey, as they supposedly did in life

My explanation would be....he gave humans free will...meaning they have the right to do what they want....if they choose to take his name in vain they will be punished when they die...but not here on Earth..because they have time to change their ways...

Well, coming from an atheist, I'd have to say that if there is some higher being watching over us, that they aren't going to act directly because they want us to take care of our selves or take responsibility for our own actions without them having to tell them what they did wrong.

That's actually not what happened though. I understand that's the belief Christianity is founded on.. but then why doesn't it remove itself from the original religion? It doesn't.. it takes the original Jewish religion and expands on it's own.. which directly conflicts with the very nature of God that was presented in the first part of the bible. Why did it take Jesus to make god a loving god.. why wasn't god a loving god from the start? Because god clearly wasn't this all loving and forgiving god. Yet, Jesus comes along and everything changes... Also, the adoption of a religion that developed in the middle east as the religion of Europeans and western society is extremely fascinating.. The bible really is only about the people of Israel.. but it's clever how they ensnared the rest of the World with their God.

According to the Bible, he has no problem throwing down plagues, floods and assorted holy vengeance upon those who anger him. I'm not sure if that counts as 'loving', tbh, although I guess even gods can only put up with so much.

I (God) will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none will make you afraid; I will rid the
land of evil beasts, and the sword will not go through your land... But if you do not obey Me, and do not
observe all these commandments... I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your
children, destroy your livestock, and make you few in number; and your highways shall be desolate. :D still think ''he'' is loving

What? That's not true. Nearly Every religion? I really don't think so.

Judaism/Christanity/Islam.. aren't really that seperate of religions.. they're all significantly connected. and developed in the same areas. There have been many religions that don't deal with punishment after death.

THIRD, On What Basis You Gentlemen or so called athiests do you support your arguements? For a moment there I was like "wait a minute"!
How Could You Tell ALL This C**** ? Are You Effecient to Have This Standing Point, You Are A Drop In a Vast Ocean Of Different Faiths And Scientific Theories.
Are You Aware Of Them All? Do You Have Intellect About Different Points ? Or Are You Just Blind To Other People's (Not Anyone) Points Of Views just to win an arguement over the interent where nobody cares? Or are you just stuffed with pizza and got bored of your gameboy and then was like " oh let's talk about God on the Internet" God!

Judaism- Goes to Gehenna (Hell)

Christianity- Goes to Hell

Islam- Goes to Hell

Hinduism- Remains in the cycle of reincarnation

Jainism- Remains in the cycle of reincarnation

Sikhism- Remains in the cycle of reincarnation

I don't really care if people choose to discuss serious questions such as this, but I typically only pay close attention to a few posts, depending if they're coherent, logical, interesting, ect. I've been in a ton of these discussions, and I realize now that it is more important to listen than it is to talk. Unthoughtful, provoking, rude posts don't impress me at all, and I see a lot of these kinds of posts around here. I get the impression a lot of times that those who think they have won an argument believe that they are right. That is just not so. For every person that wins an argument there is at least another that can out maneuver him. So the object of winning a debate is trivial. The search for the truth is not.

@gosh, you guys post fast. This was meant to be posted right after Ben's post.

When the ultimate reward is oneness with God, yes. Besides, no one ever said whatyou would be reincarnated as. Indeed, in Hinduism, you could be reincarnated as another human, or as an animal, or even as a rock.

faith is difficult and that's the price for Paradise. Also, life is not perfect and it's mentioned in the Books. It's a trial to test the patience of a human whether he will give up on faith or presist.
