Hi all, I did use the search function to try to find the answer, looked on Google and Wikipedia... I ended up even more confused.

I'm looking to upgrade my 22" 1080p TV to a 32" but decided to look into HD ready as I saw they were cheaper. I rarely use my TV for anything else apart from Xbox but I do like my games to look as good as possible. Is there much difference between 720p and 1080p? Or would it become more noticeable on a bigger TV? I saw somewhere that it only matters what the native resolution is and that most Xbox games come in 720p native so HD ready would be a good choice.

This then makes me look towards next gen, do you think that the nextbox will have the majority of its games running at 1080p native? If this is going to be the case then I'm better off buying a full HD TV in the long run right?

Sorry for so many questions and the fact that they're all mashed together :/

The price difference between 720p and 1080p isn't that large, and it's definitely the way to go. More and mroe media will start to come in as 1080p, so you'll need a 1080p TV to take full advantage.

As you pointed out, your current gen games won't benefit from a 1080p screen, but next gen games might.

lol, there are very few games that actually reach 720p on console anyways.

When you are playing a game on a 1080p tv, the console doesnt even output to 1080p resolution. The only game I know of (im sure there is more) is Killzone 3 that reaches a full smooth 720p. I know the back of game cases will say 720p or 1080p, but its not true.

Id say just save yourself some money and get a 720p HD tv. If you watch HD tv all the time and arent satified with 720p, then get a 1080p. Just know that most games don't even actually reach 720p.
