I'm volunteering at a library because apparently it will help me get into a good college.

How can you call it volunteer work if it's required? That's a problem I had with my Key Club this year. A lot of people would come for only one meeting so they could put on their resumes that they WERE in the club. A lot of people wanted to make it a rule that they had to do 10 hours of service each semester or so, but I didn't institute such a rule because it goes against the concept of service imo.yes, i did. at the time, i was under the impression that it would have some great influence on the colleges that would accept me. i volunteered at a boys and girls club as a tutor.
i also did odd jobs like playing bingo at a retirement home. i almost look forward to the time when i can be entertained by little things over and over again. i would grab the bingo ball "B4" out of the roller and call it out for everybody. this would happen several times over the course of the afternoon. each time the same old guy would say "Before what?" and each time everybody would laugh like it was the first time they had ever heard it.
