It's happened to me but I try really hard to move and I break free. Sometimes I just lay there, it kinda feels good. I fall back to sleep again, when I break out I have to try to go back to sleep.

Not personally, but you're not alone. Usually the part where you're paralyzed is a very realistic dream, accompanied by nightmarish themes.

It's called sleep paralysis. It's fairly common.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis

I first heard of it while watching the discovery channel about 8 years ago. Then again, I remember a lot as it is.

I have expirenced this only once in my life upon waking.

This happens once in a while to m. Only I am awake. Actually it only happens when I wake up and I'm not ready to get up. I absolutely hate it and think it's one of the worst feelings ever.

It's called sleep paralysis. It's very common. I've experienced auditory and visual hallucinations during these, one time I thought a vampire was sitting on my dresser, but I could only see it out of the corner of my eye.

It is actual paralysis. You are paralyzed while you sleep, it is what keeps you from getting around doing things while you're dreaming.

Isolated Sleep Paralysis.

I get it often, and for me it usually comes along with some truly horrific hallucinations. I've seen some scary things that would blow your mind...

It does because it happens during very intense, realistic nightmares. I remember I was paralyzed while a little, shredded up little girl climbed through a mirror at the foot of my bed and started slowly creeping up towards my face. As soon as she almost got to me I jumped up out of my sleep (like they do in the movies, lol).

I've gotten it at least 3 times and I can't remember any hallucinations.

It's like i'm awake but I cant move and it only happens when it's dark.

Yeah. Ever wake up with the sensation of someone snuggling with you from behind? It's happened twice now and it's been really akward both times.

For the record, I've never snuggled with anyone.

Ive had it happen 2 other times and i thought it was me but yea i had a guy in a "dream" stab me with a knife and when i could finally move my chest hurt really bad. Ive also seen myself walk down my stairs and meet a undead who ran at me and went to bite me on the neck but i woke up right before it happened.

As cool as it sounds when you start to see the crazy psycho dreams its not fun.

Imagine you inside the movie SAW in one of the traps and right before you die you wake up.

It has happened to me. I've also had a dream where I thought I was still awake trying to sleep, and then I heard noises of someone breaking into the house and I couldn't move. That was the worst.

Yes, it's called "sleep paralysis". Did you hallucinate? That happened to me when I experienced it, it might not happen all the time though.
