Today is february 10, Cliff Burtons birthday. For the ones who dont know about him: he was the best base guitar player that Metallica had and I just wanted to make this thread for the people who remember him to post something here. Happy Birthday Cliff.

Robert Trujillo is better, and the purpose of celebrating people's birthdays is to celebrate one more year of that person's life. Either way R.I.P.

There are only a few dead people's birthdays that I celebrate (Criss Oliva, Nikola Tesla, and Frank Herbert come to mind) but I suppose he was a talented musician so that merits a Happy Birthday Cliff, RIP.

Robert Trujillo doesn't even come close to Cliff Burton, Cliff Burton was one of the greatest of all time.

I'm not even going to argue about this so let's just leave it this way...

That's different, since it is more symbolic than this.

I am willing to argue about it. Cliff Burton is a legend.

I dont even see how its even arguable. Cliff Burton was just incredible.

Robert Trujillo's intro for this song is just laughable compared to Cliff Burton's.

Samurai_Xavier

That has to be one of the worst bass tones I've ever heard in my life.

But I'd say he's better or at least on par with Trujillo as well.

Sorry, but despite his talents Cliff really failed as a bassist.

He too often had his bass tuned to sound like a regular guitar to the point I really can't respect him as a bassist.

Had he just been a guitarist, he would be great. He unfortunately was just bad at filling the bass spot...

The only bassist that surpasses Cliff is the godly Steve Harris.

Cliff Burton is pretty cool, I wouldn't call him the best ever (and I'm not even going to get into the Trujillo-Burton debate) but he was definitely one of the better bassists out there.
