Hennessey Venom GT

Hennessey Venom GT

Hennessey Venom GT

Hennessey is making no performance claims this early in the car's life, but can't resist reeling off a few numbers. He would like to see it get from rest to 200mph in around 15 seconds (the Veyron is 24, remember), and he mentions that the car is geared for a theoretical maximum of 272mph.

It will be interesting to see if these claims will be achievable and the car will in fact be, most importantly, drivable. I've heard the Veyron is garbage through any type of corner.

And to be honest, I don't like the long-wheelbase Exige look either.

If only it was actually worth it. It can drive fast, but who is ever going to be able to actually use it's power? I highly doubt anyone will need to go 252 mph. We don't all live by the German Autobahn.

I don't think it would be physically possible to go that fast in that short amount of time...There would be no way to get traction.

Not a fan. Way too wild looking for my taste. I prefer the clean classic styling of Ferrari and Astin Martin.

I believe an F1 car does 0-300 km/hr in ~9seconds. 200 mph is bout 320. Obviously the tires and aerodynamics are totally different, but it is very possible depending on the setup to get 300+ km/hrin under 15s.

Try putting those tires on this car... No way they could fit (those F1 tires are just mounds of rubber) -this car has tires that are like an inch thick (low pro, high speed rated tires)

They wouldn't use those fancy giant rims for performance tests, they'd use proper racing tyres.

Yeah, I should have elaborated that I meant within the context of street (or partial street tires).

So they are going to change the suspension, rims, and tires...not the same car then IMO

The thing will need an absolute ass-load of downforce in order to get any type of traction with that little weight. F1 cars can go that fast, but they aredesigned to go that fast. This looks like an adaptation of a platform that was never designed to go that fast, i.e. the Dodge Viper or in this case, the Lotus platform its based off of. Lotus' are track cars designed to accelerate quickly, not top out over 200 mph.

Right. You're forgetting hennesey isn't a brand, and that is not a production car it's a modded lotus with an enormous engine shoveled in... if anything, i'd wage HPF's M3 E46 turbo would woop this thing to the moon. on the dyno it does 0-200mph in 9 seconds, on the road about 14, and if it didn't have the crummy rear diff and instead had a competition E36 one it would easily fly over 250mph. HPF Stage 4 doing 1246HP, 1022RWHP

Stage 4 doing 173 mph on the road

don't forget about the SCC ultimate aero, THAT is the fastest car in the world, not the veyron.

According to one of the Youtube comments, the same guy lent his Ferrari Enzo to a friend, and he wrecked that as well. The guy just has bad luck with cars. I can't imagine what his insurance rates are.

wrong as, look at the back tires they are that wide for a reason and with traction control all the torque (yeah torque not power produces acceleation) will result in that acceleration

As awesome as the Venom GT is... Its a difficult pig to drive apparently, the Veyron is said to be easy and relaxing (since it's essentially a W16 Continental GT) Still its awesome, but to beat the Veyron, it has to be in its top guise, with about 1200bhp, you can buy a version that is about 600bhp

Looks nice, but I doubt it could handle itself on the roads, with street tyres, probably have to keep it at low revs constantly.
