Do you think the world will end in 2012?

First it was 'the end of the world in 2000', then 2010 and now 2012. I cant wait....rohver

And again, in all fairness, there could very well have been a massive disaster in 2000, if not nuclear misfires then at least a collapse of the financial system. The fact that it didn't happen is due to preparation in fixing the bug in time. Although I think a Y2k disaster would have been more likely than the world ending in 2012 is.

No it doesn't. The Mayan calendar is cyclical. Dec 21, 2012 is the start of the next Baktun. Saying the calendar ends on that date is the same as saying the calendar ended on Sep 18, 1618 - the start of the current Baktun.

Well, not end, but reset. The Mayans apparaently believed there was some other creation that preceded the current one that ended after 13 baktuns. Apparently whoever keeps track of this sort of thing are planning on counting the next baktun after this one as the 14th even though in the last cycle after the 13th it reset to 1.

I dont think so. I mean, im a little concerned, but I dont think it will happen. Like isnt the rumour because of the people that created the calender didnt put any years after 2012, but maybe they just couldnt be bothered to lol. Or more realistically, they didnt think we would last that long. But then theres that rumour that it might be the start of the Golden Age or something, so yeah.

Lol actually this week me and my parents were watching some thing in the discovery channel about how the only way to prevent the world from coming to an end in 2012 is if we find some crystal skulls that are scattered through out the world- some have been found- and according to mayan legend its the only thing to save us.. sarcastically my dad said " well why are these mayan effers predicting our death when they couldnt predict their own" lol ^.^ so i guess either we find the skulls or we die.. but who knows honestly
