Do you remember users by names, avatars or signatures?

When I come across any eye catching signature I immediately look at the username to find out if its someone I already know and for obvious reasons the avatar, depending on whether I've seen the user before or not I generally remember their avatars first and then their names, rarely for just their signature.

Question, for example, if you have seen my posts before, do you recognize me by my name Agent A Mi6, or My MR bean or Lucky Star Signature for Example? its funny, I just realized that its different with Mods, I remember all of them by name, maybe its my painfully induced fear for them :P

It's a combination, and it varies from user to user. Some usernames just have a nice ring to them I can easily remember, and whenever that's not the case, I just go by whatever image (sig or avi) or phrase (avi) is most easily recognizable to me.

For example, I really didn't remember your username, TC, but I recognized you as soon as I saw your sig and avi combo. :P

in close knit forums, i use mostly the avatar and name.

in large forums like OT i honestly dont bother recognizing anyone unless i know them already from somewhere. i just read every new message almost as if they are all generated from a random automaton

Tons of users change their avatar/sig often so.. I usually connect the posts with screen names. You can't really change your screen name unless you want to start all over level/posting wise.MistressMinako

Why should I? None of you ever go out of your way to remember me kidding. I usually do not.clayron

That said, whenever I come across an awesomely EPIC avi or sig (it's usually the second), I end up associating that with the name and thus "learning" the name on it's own.

Avatars usually, some names are just like word9834560 etc.

But I remember names like Silent-Hal.

Never by name but usually be signatures and sometimes avatars. But I recognize the OP by his avatar. I doubt there's anyone on this forum that really remembers me.

usually by sig since i never feel like using the insane amount of effort to move my eyes SO FAR to the left to see the avatar/name

but if i'm interested in the post and i dont recognise the sig, ill look at the name/avatar

A mix of Avatar/Sig I guess. The name is usually the last thing I look at.

Most of the time avatar and sig. Although I know Dj tango has one of the best avatars ever.

I spend so much time in the Unions, so its really easy for me to spot those users, but im really goodwith signature and avatars for those who aren't in my unions. And if they have changed their theme, then their name is helpful. My memory is pretty good so I usually don't forget either way.

Certainly the ideal approach would be to use all available evidence.
