I have tons of problems falling asleep. My head is never comfortable with the four pillows I have and they're all hard. I'm just curious, does anyone else have problems falling asleep? Does anyone have any suggestions? :)

I've had problems since school started. Last night I went back to sleeping pills. They work, and they're probably healthier than booze.

If you mean you prefer sleeping in to getting up early, I think that's a nigh universal problem.

Ever since I was little, most nights I can't get to sleep before 2-3A; as an adult, avoiding caffeine after 11 or so AM and going to the gym both help, but I still get 4-6 hours of sleep most nights.

My body clock is just messed up. I went to bed at like 4 am the other night, and got up at something like 8-9am. Then last night i went to bed around 1am, and got up at 2pm this evening, which is the latest i think i've slept in, in a long time.

What kinda pills do you take?

Nothing prescription-strength. The brand is Simply Sleep, but it contains Diphenhydramine HCI.

Problem with me is I get anxiety, especially at night. My heart skips beats and get shortness of breath. I take anti anxiety pills (Ativan) I only take the very minimal amount though and its just enough to calm my nerves and get me to sleep.

What is it like sleep apnia? I don't care much for the meds because I hate the side effects. I still feel somewhat asleep when I wake up, hallucinations, lucid dreams, dizziness, paranoia, aggressiveness. I have to take them in small doses because I have a really messed up sleep disorder. Sometimes the meds only add fuel to the fire instead of actually helping.

Chronic insomnia sufferrer and have been for a long time (5 years, maybe). I went to the doctor to get a prescription and he gave me 10 pills. Came home and popped one, nothing happened. Only felt weak but still couldn't fall alseep. The next evening I took like 5 of them out of frustration. Felt really sick but i'm glad I'm still alive today. :)

Yep, I didn't get to sleep till about 9am last night. I just woke up 15 minutes ago, it is now 3:16pm. This has been ongoing ever since I was 14.

Yes it takes me hours every night to fall asleep cause I can't switch my brain off and relax. All I do is lie awake and worry and nothing I've tried (positive thinking, meditation, etc) has helped :|

It usually takes me an hour or more to fall asleep. I think it's because I daydream a lot.

Oh yeah. Bug time. Insomnia's my arch nemesis. I go through the most ridiculous nightly rituals to make sure I get a decent night's sleep, most of which don't work. but as a whole my Insomnia comes and goes. I'll go for weeks getting a couple of hours of sleep a night and then all of a sudden I'll be able to sleep like a baby for the next couple weeks.

Yeah, falling asleep is really hard for me. I've kind of given up on trying breathing exercises, etc. because nothing really works for me. I just have to lie there until sleep finally hits me. Have you ever tried OTC sleeping pills?

I used to get them every night, now it's quite rare... I remember, quick story XD, i was in a really f'ed up sleeping pattern where, it went like this. Night 1: I would stay up the whole night, not sleep at all. Night 2: I would go to sleep at 11pm-1am, and then get up at 6-8pm. Yeah, it was that over and over again, over the summer, it was horrible, so then one night i couldn't keep my eyes open, so i went to bed at like 8am after getting semi-normal sleep the previous night, and i went downstairs in the morning, looked at the clock, saw it was 8, so caught up in my pattern that i thought it was 8pm for some reason. Ever since then it's been good, with a couple of late nights. But yeah, used to have serious problems. Even these days, if I go to bed thinking about something, i spend like maybe 2 hours just thinking, and thinking is the main factor keeping me awake rofl. Wow, this is long. Bye.

Yeah the average time is like 7 minutes.

I've been up for hours some nights, tried pills they had no effect.

But the only thing I would reccomend is Nettle Tea, honestly, it just makes you all relaxed and sleepy, gotta get used to the flavour though.

Haha, exactly, if i have 3 pillows, which i used to always have, i'd feel so weird now adays. The pillow count is actually a big factor XD. 2 is perfect for me.

I don't usually fall asleep until 1am, then I have trouble sleeping the rest of the night until around 7... then I lie awake in my bed in pain and agony for several hours and wake up in a bad mood. :D

I used to be like that, i find that if you try to do something that requires alot of physical exertion you get tired extremely quickly. I dunno, you can function as in staying awake doing everyday things, but.. You get me :P.

Not usually but last night I woke up in the middle of the night with mad congestion and had a hard time getting back to sleep.Had to get up and walk around to clear out my nose and I'm pretty sure I slept for the rest of the night breathing through my mouth 'cause when I woke up it was soooo dry.

When I was younger, it was difficult for me to fall asleep for some reason even when I laid in my bed and imagine that I was counting sheep. The only other times I never fell asleep was on Christmas eve or on the eve of my birthday. I've been going to sleep pretty well for the past few years. By flooding my mind with thoughts or listening to music usually puts me to sleep. It take m mind off the not being able to fall asleep thing. But I wish I could fall asleep whenever I want to though like some of my other family members. Within 2 or 3 minutes, they can fall asleep whereas it takes me 10 minutes tops to fall asleep....

When I can't fall to sleep, I bust open a quality bottle of vino tinto. Something like a Rioja, Navarra, or a Chianti Classico, or I go for a big gun deep in my cellar like a Chateauneuf Du Pape.

Somewhat. No matter how tired I am during the day, I always feel really awake at night. If I try and get some decent sleep, I usually end up sleeping terribly.
