Do you consider Jamie Foxx a good movie actor?

I hardly know anyone here in OT if ever discuss about Jamie Foxx as a good actor other then him as a Comedian actor. I randomly decided to watch the newest live action Robin Hood movie and I’m not sure what to make of Jamie Foxx in this? I can’t even tell what his accent is supposed to be in that movie. I do however like him in Jarhead, Baby Driver, Collateral, & Django. Didn't like him in Ray and especially in Law Abiding Citizen, was a bad look for Foxx. At least in Amazing Spider-Man 2, it wasn't his fault the movie suck, he's an okay actor but he has to have the right kind of part with a good director. When everything comes together, he's great. When it doesn't, he's terrible.

I think he is very competent as an actor. He's entertaining, for sure.

Quite honestly I am not impressed by the majority of actors hollywood pushes as the IT star.

He's ok. I liked Collateral.

Same with Cruise come to think of it, instead of generic hero man we see him playing a villain using his almost, natural perception as being insane put to good use.

Honestly he hasn't made much of an impression on me.

I just can't take him seriously I will always see him as a goofy comedian guy.

He's alright. He's funny from what I've seen of him. (Stand-up background, right?)

Given the right material, he's alright.

Standup, maybe. I just remember him from the skit comedy show called In Living Color. Co-starred with Jim Carrey. His most memorable character was "Towanda", a bimbo type.

He’s actually a really good actor as well as a great musician and singer.

He's a very good actor from what I've seen. Haven't seen Ray though and I hear that's probably his best performance. All I want to know is, when are we getting a Wanda movie?

Oh jolly, I forgot about Wanda. This made me laugh more so about him now.

I thought he was great in collateral and he was phenomenal in Ray, defintely earned that oscar.

Not bad, not great. Better when type cast or outfitted for a role like in Django Unchained (imo his best performance, at least from what i have seen.)

Can you imagine if they made a move with Towanda and Sheneneh (from Martin)!?

@shellcase86: There is no way I could handle 90 minutes of Wanda and Sheneneh. They're good in 5 minute doses but that's it. My wife would probably love it though.

In Living Color was one of a kind, too bad a show like it could never be dreamed of being allowed in today's overly-PC climate.
