Hello, I've been thinking about this question for a while.

Do Americans listen to music like Hardcore or Hardstyle or do you not know what it is?

Here are some links to some songs.

That's true, it's very popular here in western europe, but you never see anything like it in America.

Sounds like Trance to me. If that another name for it then yes, Americans listen to trance. I don't think it's super popular though. I prefer Drum and Bass myself.

Yes, they do. Or at least I know people who do. I once had a really annoying friend who was unbelievably into it.

I do. I love hardcore electronic/techno and industrial styIes. HardstyIe is fun but a lot of it got old after awhile.

Drum and bass is huge here though thanks to Pendulum. Never could get into that.

I listen to almost any kind of electronic music myself. The Prodigy got me interested and it just kind of expanded from their. None of my friends seem to know anything about electronic music though *sigh*

I love electronic music but that is way too fast IMO. I prefer more calmer trance :)

That's *cough* very true!

But it's also good when you're normal.

I think stuff like Frenchcore would be more popular in the US. Maybe Androgyn Network or something?

America loves its breaks apparently, and I don't think there's much of that in hardcore, but then I don't really know the scene at all so I might just be talking bollocks.

I don't like dubstep either. It has no merit beyond its sonic qualities.

Those aren't very good examples of "the harder styles" IMO.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LMqDb2SDeE Old song, but it has the energy and the "hardness" of a good gabber track.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ex6uEdmHFoM Delta 9 is also a great producer from the US, he has been in the hardcore scene like forever.

Then hardsty1e has been getting worse every year IMO, melodies get cheesier as the years pass and it doesn't have that RAW feel it used to have. There are still many hardsty1e labels who try to release songs with a darker feel to them. Too bad they don't get the recognition they deserve.

PS: I think that you're like the first person I see with a Q-dance logo around here :P

First one is early hardcore, not a big fan of that. The second one is pretty good, think it's industrial? And I have never ever heard of the third one..ever!

Delta 9 is industrial/hardcore, he has been switching a lot, can't really tell what exactly he produces :)
