Private schools do. It widely varies, you can't really sum it up.

Private schools do. I have to wear a school polo and a plaid skirt. It's not bad.

I wear a uniform to school and I like it, not to mention we get some room for customization. My pants are actually pretty fly and I have a nice belt. You can also wear your pants lower if you want and stuff so even though we have uniforms it's still easy to tell groups apart.

Some do, some don't. Mostly private schools, but I know at least one public school that has mandatory uniforms.

None of my schools had uniforms. We had the freedom to wear what we wanted to wear.

I wore one at my private high school and I really didn't have a problem with it. Made life much simpler. And I don't think they're bad things in general. Some people get way too worked up about wearing one.

It differs. Most public schools don't have uniforms but do have dress codes. Private schools usually have a uniform of some kind but it differs a lot between schools. At one end of the extreme you have private schools that don't have uniforms either. Then at the other end you have the stereotypical school uniforms that you usually only see at some Catholic schools or at really expensive, elite private schools. Most of the time the uniform is pretty toned down, and a lot of private school uniforms are nothing more than a polo shirt and khaki pants (with the option of skirts, skorts, and maybe jumpers for the girls). When I went to private school my uniform was pretty much that; just a polo top, long khaki pants, and a brown or black belt. The girls could also wear skorts but that was it.

I'm glad I live in the UK - all our schools have uniform and I only realised how much I missed it when I went to a non-uniform 6th form college. Suddenly I had to decide what to wear everyday and it meant I looked the same in and out of college. I complained at the time but when they introduced blazers it looked really smart. Only thing was I've always hated the material of school trousers and wished I'd have found the black trousers I'm currently wearing sooner as it would have made school a lot more comfortable! I think uniform is a good thing as it stops kids from being picked on for not having the 'in' clothes and fashion. Also I had to get loads more clothes for 6th form so I had enough to wear and for kids from poorer families this isn't reasonable, especially in school where kids are still growing and getting through a lot of clothes. However I think at 6th form level it's nice to be out of uniform and I feel sorry for my mates who stayed on at our school and had to wear 'smart' clothes with all these rules on them.

Only had to wear a uniform in an English private school in Germany for a couple of years and I HATED it. All the times the teachers would yell "TUCK YOUR SHIRT IN!" aaaargh!

At my private school boys have to wear polos and khakis. Girls just have to dress modest. Also no jeans, except for Fridays.

Not the ones in my area.

In fact, my school was incredibly loose. They had a dress code, they just didn't bother to enforce it much.

Mine did, I went to a private High School.

I liked the uniform though, gave me an excuse to wear some nice pants and a spiffy sweater. :P

Do catholic high schools in America have uniforms? Cause I go to one in Canada (only because my friends go there) and we have to.

All the ones I know of do. I went to two and in high school we (girls) wore white blouses and had the choice of 2 skirts. That was all that was allowed.

My school has a bit more options. Girls can wear skirts or pants, black or white t shirts or long sleeved shirts, or rugby shirts (blue and black striped). Same for guys, minus the skirts. Every other school with uniforms I've heard of is way more strict than my school.

I wear a dress shirt and khakis w/ dress shoes. We also have to wear a tie on certain days for special events (like Mass or a game). We've gotta tuck our shirts in too and weara belt. It's not a big deal though, if you shop in the right places then you can get clothes that are comfy.

That's so unfair. I would've been much more comfortable in a polo shirt and anything that wasn't a skirt. Especially during the winter.

I went through two private schools, so I spent thirteen years of my life (kindergarten through grade 12) in a uniform. Shirts and ties and grey slacks in fall and winter, golf shirts and grey slacks in the spring. My first school had school sweaters, my second school required blazers.

No uniforms, just a dress code for my school.
