I asked this question to my union members and I've found some mixed answers. So what does the OT community think?

I've just watched 007 Casino Royale and it was simply mind-blowing. I must say that I wasn't too thrilled to hear that a new Bond was being used....I was so used to Brosnan as the face of 007.

But then I saw the movie. The reason why it was one of my favorite 007 films was of simply Daniel Craig's work. The new Bond is likeabe, very charming and charasmatic, but he doesn't sacrifice the wit of Connery or the suave nature of Brosnan. He just seems so much more human.

What do you guys think of the new face of James Bond?

I think Brosnan's performance in Goldeneye was better than anything Sean Connery ever did. Daniel Craig's performance is the best since that one.

i agree. Daniel Craig fits the original description of James Bond from the original novel series. In the books, Bond was supposed to be blond and have blue eyes. Plus Craig has the suave and the perfect Bond attitude.

Craig is good, but Connery and Moore are FAR superior to him... and as for Brosan, i think its almost disgraceful to call him a bond...

I didn't really like Moore, his Bond and his Bond films tended to be more comedy/sci fi (i.e Moonraker) than actually Bond films (i.e Goldfinger)

i liked him i though he was great and i loved the new direction the movie went into it was less silly  and more dark like it would be in real life like in the opening scene where he's fighting that guy and then he drowns him in the old bond movies  he would do something lame like shock the guy with his watch

Brosnan was decent I must say. I think the title of worst Bond goes to Timothy Dalton, IMO of course.

Well, that sounds all fine and dandy when you compare one of the worst movies in the series to the best, doesent it?

Absolutely.  Casino Royale is definitely my favorite film in the franchise.  Give Craig a couple more Bond movies and he'll overtake Connery, in my opinion.

Even if he is, that's not saying that much.  Other than Connery, most of the other Bonds have been mediocre.

James Bond actually has black hair and blue-grey hairs according to the books. Which was why I was quite shocked when I saw the first trailer and saw he has blond hair. I would say Craig brought a breath of fresh air into the character but if you ask me how I imagined Bond look and behave like, I would have to say he's much more like Brosnan than Craig.

I always like to see a Bond character who has a few flaws. IMO it's the way Bond is meant to be portrayed. Timothy Dalton showed it a little in License to Kill, Brosnan did it in Goldeneye, and Craig has done it in Casino Royale.(No puns intended :P ) While Connery suited the Bond image of a suave british agent, the movies became too polished and "nice".

Dalton was my fav bond, he's very close to the books like craig is and he is a much better actor than most of the others.

Then Connery who i like a lot, Moore was a pansy, he couldn't fight, he was to old, the films had to be written around him.

Dont get me wrong some of his films are some of my favorites out of the series, but he was probably the worst.

You can laugh all you want at Lazenby, he was much better than everyone gives credit for.

That leaves Brosnan, all the young kids who watched him as the current bond as they grew up rate him much more than he should be, he's a little like Moore but you have to admit he stared in the worst bond films to date.

Agreed, even though I'll get blasted for this, Connery is overrated. And worst Bond would go to Roger Moore, he looks like an overweight old lady. Then Brosnan...

Well first, remember we have to seperate the film from the actor. If you thought the movie plot was better, well, great, but that doesn't make Craig any good. Likewise, the fact that Bond has some flaws is the result of the script, not Craig.

I personally think Craig is the worst Bond yet. He is simply the most uncharismatic one since Lazenby (and to be fair to Lazenby, he was only in one film- I could be judging him wrongly). Furthermore, he's easily, and I can't stress the word easily enough, the ugliest man to ever to be 007. That right there takes me out of the movie- an attractive women all excited for a man that looks like he was a teenager who was constantly popping pimples and creating scars? Please...and the fact that he's a wuss in real life (as depicted by his introduction as Bond) doesn't help the matter.

I didn't like the movie either- it seemed to be too dark for its own good. I don't remember any of Bond's traditional quips (and if they were there, well, its because Craig sucks and I don't remember them) and it just tried to be so serious and involved. By the end, I didn't even care what happened- I just wanted to finish watching it to be able to continue saying that I've seen all the Bond films.

I must say I was pretty wary of the choice when I heard of it first. I admit that I liked Brosnan as Bond, I thought he suited the part well, and Goldeneye was always my favourite BNond movie. However, Craig was a suprisingly excellent Bond, and probably the most "real" one yet, which actually carried over to the whole movie, which was the most down to earth and believeble Bond movie they've ever made.

Brosnan was an amazing Bond. Unfortunately, whoever wrote the movies did a godawful job after Goldeneye - or maybe I'm just a lover of things involving Soviets, Russia, and Communism. However, Craig was better - he made Bond real. Some of the stuff was really brutal, I suppose, and it made it more believable, as opposed to laughable like the later Brosnan films.

Craig was like the movie: bland and uninteresting.
