I'm proud of my city. Don't get me wrong there are some knuckleheads in those crowds and we have problems in our community but I appreciate the protest from the average person out there. I don't know what the rest of this country is doing but we aren't going to have it here! Trump got shut down. I bet he is stupid enough to be surprised by this. Link:

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-trump-rally-idUSMTZSAPEC3CWI3VFZ

A campaign rally of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump scheduled for Friday night in Chicago has been postponed for safety reasons due to widespread protests, a Trump campaign staffer said.

It is not know when or if the rally will be rescheduled. Thousands had gathered to protest Trump's candidacy.

Yeah....so much to be proud of in Chicago.
Bankrupt
raise taxes on you poor people to pay for rich assholes bankrupting city
The worlds worst mayor that covered up a shooting by a cop to get re-elected
One of the worst cities for gun violence , let alone gang violence
cops that do some very strange shit, let alone running Guantanamo style prisons no one knows about
People are about as friendly as pissed off pit vipers
Traffic sucks , some of the worst in the country
and it's just plain corrupt. The citizens don't matter in Chicago, only the corrupt elite

Yup lots to be proud of.

That's not what that crowd is screaming. What did your town do to stop this Fascist from getting into power?

It's not the Chicago government I'm proud of or the Chicago gangbangers. It's the other 2.7 million I love and am proud of.

This is the only thing you said I disagree with:

"People are about as friendly as pissed off pit vipers"

We are midwesterners and Chicagoans are a friendly down to earth breed. Tell me why you don't think so?

@Flubbbs: It's not denying free speech it's rejecting the filth him and his supporters are spewing. Would you be mad if the KKK was treated this way? There is more reason to object to this man than the KKK. He is running for president for ****'s sake. Lying down and taking it is not what I would respect.

And it's so easy to stoop to the Chicago thug thing. You think that's what makes up the majority of these protestors?

@Flubbbs: Trump has had more freedom of speech than anyone else in modern times. The media covers every word he speaks. Now the citizens of Chicago are speaking back and you act like they are the fascists. They are the people and they are rejecting his ideas. The people are speaking. It's our turn.

And regardless of what you make of the Chicago reaction, it was obvious that it would happen, I predicted it this morning, and Trump is 100% responsible for it.

It's not humor but yeah, I speak freely.

Those people there want to go against America that's fine and dandy but we'll see once President Trump gets into office how they'll ask him for things.

The funny thing is that Trump was most concerned with the safety of people there to support him. He doesn't even blink at these racists, instead he does the right thing for the people.

Like he will do for all the people once he's president.

@sonicare: I think you are missing the Chicago protesters point. Are you open minded enough to hear it or have you already made up your mind and won't allow anything else into your thought process right now?

Trump is the one who decided to cancel. No one really called for it they simply disagree with him and would like their voice heard as well.

I'm not fond of Trump and I've no intention of voting for him, but generally speaking I'm not too fond of riots. Too easy for someone to take it WAY too far and turn a riot from a well meaning protest into a full blown violent episode. Mob mentality sucks like that.

Granted I acknowledge and accept the fact that as a nation we DO have the right to protest. I just can't help but get a little autistic when it comes to stuff like that. (which in my case is reasonable as I do have autism; not looking for or wanting any sympathy, just stating the facts when it comes to how I think)

@chaosbahamut: I would agree. I live in Chicago and am watching it out of my window (metaphorically anyways). No one is rioting. there has been a couple isolated fights reported but nothing like a riot and that is not what any protestors I see are looking for.

Trump should be allowed to say what he wants, and the protesters should be allowed to disagree with him

But this is where it's a problem, on both sides:

Following the announcement, the crowd began to chant and cheer. Scuffles broke out as signs were ripped from hands and police moved in to break up areas with the most serious conflicts.

Is there any evidence of that?

My point is more that it's not really a good thing for it to be shutdown because of fears over safety, and that applies to all sides

@lostrib: The Chicago PD is saying that they saw no threat and didn't recommend canceling the event. Who do you think got the most angry when the event was canceled? Trump doesn't like dissenters and canceled it just like he did the debate with Megan Kelly. You had a room full of people, supporters and protesters and then canceled just leaving them there to sort it out.

@NathanDrakeSwag: So you are ignorant then. Do you understand the words I typed above?

If 400 people are killed in a city of over 2.7 million, what percentage of the population of the city could possibly be murderers. Why would an intelligent person define 2.7 million by this minority?

@NathanDrakeSwag: All I've been hearing all day is Trump saying what a great city Chicago is and how many investments he has here. He just loves it. You can't be a true Trump supporter zombie if you are going to be disagreeing with him like that. He doesn't like it! And what about murders per capita. Does that mean anything to you? Chicago doesn't lead in that. And by the way, New York topped 1000 in a year.

edit: correction, in 1981 there were 2100 murders in NYC.

I'm not surprised, in fact I am surprised that this hasn't happened sooner. If anyone is going to incite violence it'll most certainly be Donald Trump with the rhetoric that he likes to spew.

@FireEmblem_Man: Regressive is the opposite of progressive. Think about that for a little bit. What is Trump doing. Making us great AGAIN. Going back regressing. What does the right wing want? The good old days in the 1950s. Liberals=progressive. You may have this all backwards. Just something to think about, no pressure.

It's regressive because these supposed "progressive" are using violence to stop a rally! We aren't cavemen anymore! If you get your feelings hurt by rhetoric, then you need to see a therapist

@FireEmblem_Man: Violence? Like that Trump supporter punching someone in the face? Like what Trump encourages his supporters to do? No liberals did any of that tonight that I'm aware of.

How so? All Trump wanted was a peaceful rally to address the people. Instead an angry group of violent protesters created such an unsafe environment that it had to be called off. The only people who look bad tonight are the people of Chicago.

@NathanDrakeSwag: The very first signs of any conflict arising between anyone according to the CPD happened AFTER Trump called the whole thing off. Now I'm just repeating myself. Are facts going to matter or are you going to just assume whatever you would like to believe?
