Most likely Lonelynight doesn't take the article seriously. That article is from... 1970.
I tend to frown upon people who declare that a piece of news that a person posts a thread about is old, but, um, don't you think that an article from 41 years ago might be a bit outdated by now? I'm not sure I understand. :P

I was about to make a comment saying "I thought we were in the 21st century, why is stuff like this still happening?" then I noticed the date. That article is from... 1970.

"the child should have the freedom to worship as she sees fit, and not be influenced by prospective parents who do not believe in a Supreme Being."
Better than being forced to believe it, right?
Is this like the 70's version of the onion? I hope so.
he continued, "the child should have the freedom to worship as she sees fit, and not be influenced by prospective parents who do not believe in a Supreme Being."
Great, so instead of being influenced by "nothing", he'll now have the privilige of being influenced by christians!
[QUOTE="th3warr1or"]How can it be from 1970? There wasn't even internet then was there? :? worlock77
Because it would be impossible for a magazine that's been published since 1923 to copy old articles to its website.
Or that's just what Government wants you to believe. :o

MissLibrarian*weeps for humanity* I don't even know how long that Magazine has been around, jeez give me a break. Besides, GameSpot always glitches up the older threads and says that they were posted on the 1st of January 1970. I thought that was the case with this.
if it hadn't been for cotton eye joe i'd been married a long time agolloveLamp
Everybody knows atheists can't reproduce. Christians have a monopoly on that.TheokhothTrue.. we all know god plants the seed in the womb, not a man :p

i guess i'm not allowed to have a kid or give a child a future who currently dose not have no future then being in a house full of other kids with no true family
oo well to bad their fault.
There goes my plans for my future to have one child and adopt one
According to the judge, the child shouldn't be forced to believe in any supreme being, but can't have parents that don't believe in a supreme being that won't force said belief in supreme being on child. What?
And people complain politicians/officials in our generation are dumb.
Regardless of the age of the article, I don't doubt there are tons of people around these days who think the same things. "You are denied the adoption of a child because putting them in a non-believing household will force them to grow up non-believing." That is some of the worst logic I've ever seen. If anything, growing up in a non-believing household gives people the right to FREELY CHOOSE what they want to believe, unlike a staunch Christian, or Muslim home, where the children are born and raised in that particular religion, and usually shielded from outside ideas and traditions.
Either way, I expect the "blank" they left on the form was what caused the initial problems, not that they were atheists (i.e. they may have had to fill out every line of the form, which is common). The judge is just so far up their ass though.
