You have good taste if I do say so myself :P

Thanks, I don't get too much credit there, I was always into GNR & NIN. But my best friend was into all these punk bands so he turned me onto them.

[QUOTE="spazzx625"][QUOTE="robbedquick"] punk and emo are the same to me. you cant divide themrobbedquick
I CAN divide them because they are totally different...

how so?

Punk is an offshoot of rock music.

Emo is an offshoot of pop music.

Punk is about sticking it to the man.

Emo is about sticking it in yourself.

Punk is about empowering one's inner-chaotic self to create outer anarchy in the world.

Emo is about dampening one's inner-chaotic self to create an emotionally sterile personality.

They are, quite literally, polar opposites.

Punk

Emo

Oh wait, they both use guitars. I guess they are exactly the same then, ololololololol.

[QUOTE="lonewolf604"]look look look, i KNOW THAT POP-PUNK IS CONSIDERED NOT REAL PUNK, but I choose early Green DayFilm-Guy

I like their early albums like Dookie, I think they get a bit too much crap for their new stuff. The are not the worst band around and I can easily tolerate them.

I love their new and old stuff alike.

The Clash and Green Day

Ninja-Hippo

Speaking of which, does anyone else find it kinda lame that Green Day literally model themselves off the Clash?

nah not really as every band's got to take influence from somewhere.I mean with Trivium and the crusade i felt like they were trying to hard to be like metallica.

It doesn't matter, his reasoning is still right. Saying punk and emo are the same is stupid as hell. Technically, emo is punk, but that's like saying all metal sounds the same. It's just wrong- no ifs or buts

Fear, The Misfits, Guitar Wolf. But of all of them I like Fear the best, and they are also from my hometown of L.A.

I LOVE LIVIN IN THE CITY!

Best song.

despite the fact that i'm Goth, i don't really enjoy punk music that much. i realize that punk music is what spawned Goth in the late 70's, but i do not enjoy its anarchist undertones. or at least the undertones that Punk intentionally had during the 70's as a revolt against the British government.

the closest to punk that i do like are Christian Death, 45 Grave, Alien Sex Fiend, Miguel and the Living dead, and the Last Days of Jesus. in actuallity, these are more Gothic Rock/Deathrock bands. but they contain punk elements.

Does post-punk count? Well anyway, I'd say Gang of Four, Elvis Costello (early stuff), Public Image Ltd. and The Replacements. I think early Blondie is considered as punk too, before they got new-wave with Parallel Lines. I'd say everything punk until The Offspring is great, in my book. It went downhill ever since....

I'm more partial to their earlier works though The Sufferer and The Witness is their best album. And by earlier works I mean The Unravelling (Re-Issue).
